LOTS of boards coming from KT. Essentially three different Dragonfly models with 20 different boards within the range. The catalogs with dims are already floating around.

Ginxu Super K looks like a sick winging option blending Dragonfly with Ginxu...

I know shops have already placed orders and I would expect Dragonflys to come sooner than July. Not sure about all of the models though.

From what I understand:

Ginxu Super K - Midlength wing board
Dragonfly 2 - evolution of the current Dragonfly
Dragonfly Crossing - longer and narrower Dragonfly (expert)
Dragonfly Surf - Wider, more stable Dragonfly (beginner)

I have tested SuperK 80 liters prototype and loved it. 6' x 21" x 5.2"

The production version in the catalog looks quite a bit different from this. There is a pronounced "Ginxu step" in front of the boxes, and more of a pintail. Similar themes in the design though and it looks like a great board. Those dims are very close to the 80L production size.

Out of respect for KT, I'll let them release the info broadly when they are ready to. If you are serious about getting one, I suggest reaching out to a dealer - bet they will share it, or at least give you the dims.

To my eye the rider position on the deck of the mid length is back on the tail, instead of near the middle. I prefer the mid length to be a mini downwind board with rider position the same...near the middle. I want a balanced teeter-totter. Not Pinocchio.

The tracks are very long and based on where I position my foil (my rear foot goes basically right on top of the rear bolts), the footstrap placement they are demonstrating there would have my foil ALL the way at the back of the tracks. It looks like the rear footstrap is as far back is it will go and there are 2-3 inserts in front of that strap.

That said, Kane is riding midlengths with his rear foot all the way back and hes a KT rider, so wouldn't be surprised if they are going toward a slightly aft position on the board.

Also, with the tracks parallel with the deck this board will ride nose down at speed so not a good wing racing board as partially advertised. But wing racers don't use mid-length boards anyway. Plus no Tuttle box. Fine board for slower foils likely.

Take a look at the Armstrong mid length dimensions and images in the other thread. They look spot on right, based on all the different boards I've built and tried myself.

I have no connection to any of these brands, just sharing based on personal experience riding a lot of sizes.

Kane did explain in a podcast why he was standing on the tail of his custom mid length seen on JDfollow cam. The foil balanced out in that spot on that board. He still goes by the balance point.

Oh man, thats divisive. I wouldn't buy another board without a handle, particularly at this size. The handle is so handy in shore dump situations and allows me to get the board several inches higher, which can make a lot of difference in getting over crashing waves. I often find myself holding the board high while I time my paddle out in punishing conditions.

His board doesn't have cutout and tail shape is like prototype on picture I posted.

This probably applies to the dragonfly 2023 (now 2 Pro Carbon) only.

For those looking at the specs to decide between the 2023 version and the new 2 Pro carbon release:
I have the 6.6 / 88L (2023 - and love it). The 2023 spec sheet does not match my board for box length and position.
It never bothered me as the board is fantastic - but looking at the new 2024 specs I realized that now both the foil track length and the track position line up with what I actually have. My track starts 54.5cm from the tail and is 13'' (not 16'') long.
I don't know how this works out for the other sizes - as I have never seen one - but I'd be surprised if the 8.2 actually had the box at the same place as my 6.6.



If you go shopping bring a measuring tape...

Had quality gotten better with KT? Lots of folks around here had lemons with their first "Drifter" wing-boards.

Ya totally. Lots of folks in my area with Dragonfly DW boards and all of 'em happy. Haven't noticed any particular quality control issue. I have one and quality seems v v high. Pads, fin box, valve, leash attachment. Everything good after months of use.

That's great to hear! With the Quattro, it seemed like the designers were writing checks that their factories couldn't cash, if you get the analogy. Good to see that it got sorted out. They do make sexy looking boards.

First quick wing session on the DFly 2 110L (I had the previous 110L version last year and loved it): As you'd expect, felt very similar but the feedback through the board feels a bit different, possibly due to deck pad change and/or construction change. Haven't had a chance to measure if the foil tracks are a bit forward of previous gen, but feels like they might be a little further forward. Board has a slightly more stiff/substantial feel, so maybe slightly more durable? The v-tail release has been reshaped a bit and should be less prone to damage by accidental knocks. The Ginxu step has moved forward of previous design. Board releases very early and stability feels about the same as previous model (not great stability until moving forward). Hope to get out surfing and DW it in the next month!
