I've heard of people chopping wing tips or making some other sort of modification on stabs to increase wind range and speed of front wings. Does any one have any experience with this ? What was the outcome ?

Ive thought about modifying a stab for above reasons but dont want to butcher it and then have to bin it.

Was thinking about modifying fanatic 215 (windfoil stab) or fanatic 216 ( wing stab)

I've chopped slingshot phantasm stabilizers... just attack them with a disc sander; no problem

You need to know it they are solid or foam core. If cored, you need to know where the core ends unless you want to break out the cloth and resin. Ultrasonic probe is the right tool for this, but you might get by with careful tapping with a hard object.

Did it in the past with SAB and Cabrinha foils. The Sab had a core, so needed to fil the end with epoxi and mico balloons, the Cab were solid, so simply but carfully using a hacksaw and after that sanding.
On the water the foil became more pitch sensitive but also turning tighter and going a bit faster.
A smaller stab might take a while to get used to, but after that I really liked it.
With my new foils (AFS) the stabs are standard a bit smaller so no need to change them.
