Hi, any of you already tested both? Any advantage of the stiffer X? wonder if the closing mechanism of the non X is nicer.
Came from ION Arc, which is not padded enough in the front for me. after full powered session i had marks on my skin and also the straps moved which made it hard to unhook at high winds.
I bought a 2nd hand Mystic X harness 2 years ago at Windsurfing Perth for 200 dollars for windsurfing.
I did a custom job to make the hook slide so bar is connected by only the top straps now. Changed the bar to a shorter one to increase the slide. Added leg straps to stop it coming up.
Easily the best harness I've ever used.
Zero back discomfort, so incredibly comfortable.
Tried to go back to my Flying Objects Transit for a period but not even close.
I rode a friend's Ion Rave today for a good 3-4 hours. It really liked it. That said, I think I'm going to give the Mystic Majestic a chance. I like the non-velcro buckle on the ION. It's a lot like the one on the Dakines, but smaller. But I see some online with plastic buckles, so I don't know if they've changed it. I'm not too sure about the bungee centering hook. I sorta works, but I think it may be better not having that features... more like Mystic Majestic.
Old thread, but new harness offering from Mystic.

Really like the look of this one. Non water absorbent. Wide hook webbing. Low profile support/padding. Solid closure system (looks like the Majestic). Only complaint is that I'd like a handle pass line across the back (easy to add).
I currently ride with the Ion Arc which is pretty good, but it does absorb water, the harness webbing is too thin/flimsy, and I had to modify the closure system so that it didn't come loose (original velcro was terrible - I added a second layer of velcro like the Majestic and it helped).
Ive tried the Majestic and its just way overkill for the riding I do. Probably ideal for racing or speed, but its too restrictive for surfing. I'm hooked in for only ~20-25% of most sessions and want a harness to feel light and out of the way when I'm not hooked in.
I tried this early on and before I was really accustomed to using a harness in general. Just way overkill for me. The Majestic harness isn't much different than a basic kite harness, other than the sliding hook. I could see a soft kite harness like a wave harness or foiling harness being a decent alternative.
