Anyone has experience using the 180 or 140 Armstrong rear foils with the 1880 or 1675? Would like to get into DW foiling starting with WF. However, everyone seems to say how slow the APF foils are but usually I've only seen people use the 202 pump or 220 Glide. I have a Axis background and the Skinny rear foils really improve the speed and turning ability of the larger Axis foils (ie 1201, 1401, 1180, 1300, etc). Wouldn't a smaller rear foil on the APF do the same?
Thanks.

I've only tried one send with the apf1675, 60 fuse, and 220 stab(blue shim). At only 65KGs, this was not very user friendly. Took a lot of effort to try and steer the rig. Sort of had a mind of its own. Conditions were full of reverb, so not ideal. Next time, I'm going to with the 50 fuse and either 140 or 180. I'll try and report back.

I used 1675 with 220 no shim 50 fuse 795 mast on Naish DW125 7'4 and 7m ventis. Conditions 7-11kt tropical light winds 32 degrees C. Wind Started offshore holey and finished onshore more consistent but up and down as seabreeze pushed in. I am 77kg 5'10 tall.

Setup rode effortless, super stable and very turny chasing micro bumps over shallow sand banks and dropping in to channels to gibe. I could get round a gibe but would fall off due to lack of wind to drive out other side. I still need to master pumping board out the other side. Ventis pumps fantastic a good size for my height. Catches tips but they are pointy and easy to recover.

super low stall as expected and reasonable top end. I was stoked how well it went on the gusts getting back upwind.

next weekend looks too windy but will try a 180 next opportunity for sub 10 session.

So I've dialed in my 1675 rig a bit more. Lately I've been using the 50 fuse, 180 tail (no shim), and a 1 degree base plate ship (rear shimmed).

I took it out winging to dial in the feel and foot placement. With the shim, the board will ride nose down at higher speeds, so when going upwind, you need to shuffle back a couple inches. When slowing up to get on a bump, shuffle forward a hair.

The main reason for the mast shim for me was to be able to get on foil with the paddle. I'm now able to paddle up in the bumps and flat water. The shim may not be needed if only winging and learning to bump ride.

I use the 1675/60/220 for light DW conditions and it works a treat,I'm 80kg and I've tried the 50 fuse and 180 tail and found the 180 tail is not big enough and the rig is nose down too much , the 202 works but is slower than the 220 which feels more efficient. The 50 fuse definitely works and improves turning but at the expense of pitch control and after several sessions I can turn the 60 fuse really well ,and it irons out the ups and downs better and gives a smoother run overall. One unexpected bonus of the 1675 is when it gets overpowered it starts to nose down rather than blow up like most big wings , while it gets locked in you can still handle some bigger swells without coming off ,It takes several sessions to get your head dialled into but it's really good in light DW conditions.

Finally got some time to try APF1675 with the 180. Due to outgoing tide shallow waters I had it on the 72A+ rather than the 795HP. So 72 mast, 60 fuse, 180 no shim, NAISH 125DW board centre of mast track and no base shim. Wing 7m Ventis.
wind was 8-12kt offshore but holes might last a minute or two when you are just waiting for that next gust.
me around 77kg. Despite being somewhat slow motion it was always a dynamic carvey feel. It was very enjoyable and held pitch super stable.
when I headed in I was navigating channels around sand bars for over 100m in sub mast depths. On the downwind legs it pumped beautifully (and I have not begun to master this skill) using the wing pumps for balance in conjunction with the legs.
the 180 tail didn't feel any faster than the 220 but going from a 50 fuse to a 60 definitely improved the pump
