Hi guys I remember when southerlies were consistent and blow for three days in the South coast of NSW . Now it's like gust sailing you will get gusts to 28 knots then nothing for 20 minutes then 10 to 15 then nothing is it global warming or something else .Cheers Rich

I notice the variation more now probably because I'm more focused on the wind as the key factor in winging. Before winging, as a board rider, I didn't notice the variation as much. The southerly seemed to blow for days because even a light southerly would ruin surface conditions and deter surfboard riding.

East coast ocean temps been high and we have had a lot of rain, I think when it's rainy we get more variability with wind speed - just a guess ..

Yes wet southerlies are typical of east coast lows and when rain is involved you can't trust the wind.

The ecl's were rare but have been more common than the typical southerly fronts since La Ni?a.

Same thing here in Lake Macquarie, at least I've found winging I can run two wings and leave one leashed to a tree, or quickly change a foil.. (maybe i need a second board already setup with matching foil for a quick swap!).
