Hi I'm asking the question if anyone thinks I could learn to wing foil on my electric board by just changing the foil to a non electric learner one as I travel a lot and don't have room for 2 boards, I have windsurfed all my life and can now efoil but would like to try the wing. I'm thinking of the basic stuff on a sup then moving on to my efoil using a different mast and foil? Is this a good idea???

I haven't done it, but I'm sure its doable for the early stages of learning. The weight is going to be the biggest challenge. Maybe you can remove the battery from the system to lighten it up a bit? What kind of e-foil is it?

If you are starting on a SUP, make sure there is some kind of skeg so the board will track. Otherwise there is no rail grip and you wont be able to point anywhere but downwind. Might forgo this step entirely and just learn to taxi on the foilboard (with foil attached for stability and tracking).

Hi yes the battery does come out , so the board would only have the control unit in it , a bit heavier than a wing board ,

Not a bad idea.. What brand of efoil is it?

The motor on the bottom of the mast will cause a lot of drag, you will have very loaded up arms trying to drive it through the water. And forget tuning, the drag will stop the board gliding.

Yes I understand that but I'm thinking of changing the mast and foil to a big learning one , it's just a idea at the moment because a second hand wing is ?300 and a foil and mast is ?400 , so didn't want to spend that if people thought it was a stupid idea, but like I said can't have 2 boards as no room on van !

The efoil is a second hand takuma and good to learn on but only does an hour, so as I can windsurf though it could be a new sport in me bow

To learn to wing the board will need to be 30-40lts above your body weight otherwise you will struggle. But the learning curve is swift and being a windsurfer you will pick it up quickly and drop board size.
