Considering the poor forecast for Wednesday the 4th we have decided start the series on the 11/11/09. From the 11th of October till our Christmas break, then on until March, we will see you every Wednesday evening, what ever the forecast.

As we no longer have daylight saving we are going to be starting a little bit earlier and sailing till dusk.

*** BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!!!!!! ***

THE WINDFORCE

Pelican Point Summer Twilight Series

Briefing 5.20 Start 5.30pm

Windforce are organizing a Wednesday night Twilight Series again this Summer.

Why should the Yachties have all the fun?

• This is just for fun and is designed to attract sailors that want a bit of fun not for the ultra competitive.

• We will get on the water whatever the wind conditions and
try to get as many heats in as possible.
o Windy = slalom/freeride gear.
o Light = big boards.
o Super Light = Stick your rig on a SUP (Stand Up Paddle board provided)
o No Wind = SUP Race (board and paddle provided)

We will have a start sequence and a designated course to sail as per a normal race, so you can get the feel of how racing works. There will be a number of the top sailors on the water, so you can pick up a few tips. We will have a score board to record your finishing position each heat and tally the final results. The Twilight Series is great training for the real thing.

Ever tried using a GPS to record your highest speed? Windsurfing WA has six GPS units that are available to borrow, so you can see how your speed compares with other sailors. We will keep the results and see how you improve during the season

In the same way that yacht clubs attract experienced and inexperienced sailors all just wanting to have some fun we are going to do the same. Bring down some mates or come down by yourself everyone is welcome!!!

SMALL PRINT
This is not an organised race… it is a social get together that is all about being safe and having fun. Every sailor is responsible for their own safety and should only sail within their capabilities. Be aware at all times of other water users, it is YOUR responsibility to be safe on the water. By suggesting this get together we are in no way taking any responsibility for your or others safety.

With the first Windforce Twilight Series meet just around the corner, we are proud to announce both Bjoern Dunkerbeck and Steve Allen are expected to attend this Wednesday. Currently in WA testing with the Severne design team on the all new race programme we are hoping to steal some of their precious time.

If requirements do not take them else where for testing, we invite all interested people who wish to meet (maybe even drag race) two of the worlds best windsurfers. Wind or no wind we still aim to be down at Pelican Point from 5pm, so come along ready to race or just chat over a beer and pizza.

Should testing take Bjoern and Steve elsewhere, we will keep you updated on this topic.

Thanks for the opportunity to talk/ meet with a legend in our sport. A very relaxed social gathering. Fingers crossed for wind in the coming weeks.
