A New Star for Starboard
Starboard SUP Australia Welcome Top Female Wave Rider Shakira Westdorp
Starboard SUP Australia are happy to announce a new partnership and welcome our latest team rider into the fold.
Shakira is at the top of the game of Australian women’s Stand Up Paddle Surfing dominating her state and National titles for the past few years. In fact with the exception of just one Shakira has won every Australian SUP wave comp she has ever entered.
Shakira is a natural water girl and with a Surf Life Saving and Surfing background she was already accomplished with achievements in Hawaii and even featured in a women’s surf movie before she took to SUP in 2006. In 2009 she won the prestigious California Battle Of the Paddle and came second in 2010. Career put racing on the back burner and Shakira turned more to SUP surfing. She has been competing in SUP surfing events since 2011 and is truly proving to be one of the best female wave paddlers in the world. She has held her state QLD title for three consecutive years, the past two National titles and has was the
runner up in the past two ISA World Titles in Peru and is aiming for coveted world title in 2014. Nominated for Female Paddler of the year in 2010 and 2011 Shakira has a bright future and is defnately a name to watch.
Starboard is stoked to have Shakira on board for the 2013 Australian Titles to be held on the Gold Coast in November, and we look forward to watching her rip it up on Starboards premier Pro model 8’0 and 7’4 wave boards.
Welcome to the team Shak we look forward to moving forward with this positive partnership and helping you to realise your goals.
