I open this thread for the new owners of Patrik AEON foil. I see the impressive results of top speed of Alex Cousin with the Patrik foils (38 knots 2s), and the very good results in PWA, and finally I decided to order my new Patrik AEON foil, and I will receive in october. I order the 95 DIM S(the thinner mast), 450 and 550 DNA.H front wings, and 160 Backwing, and 100 v2. I contact with Michelle Becker, and this foil is surprising powerful for his wing size, and I hope the change to my new foil will be easy. He said the 550 is enough for light wind, and 460 for allround wing. The only problem of this foil is the very sofisticated configuracion system, with fuselage and tail configuration, it will be nice to share configurations. When I receive it, I will show in detail.

Greeting from Mallorca!

Some more info, including PDFs etc. are on the German forum: surf-forum.com/forum/thread/27328-neuer-patrik-aeon-foil/

It definitely looks interesting. Although I'm curious what Michelle considers "light wind" for 550 wing? :)

Everything seems to be going in the slalom direction, with the emphasis on speed, not as much on the lift (VMG) aspect.

I did some side by side sailing with Patrick when he was testing these foils and i can tell you they're not only quick they arent too bad going upwind either for such small wings. I was on IQ Foil gear and he was on a small front wing and was going that quick it was hard to stay ahead upwind. Downwind he was way quicker.

It sounds like he had better VMG downwind despite the small wing, and it was comparable in terms of upwing VMG?

Do you know what kind of board/sail/wing combo he had? What were the wind conditions? Thanks.

I cant remember 100% exactly, but i'm thinking he was on the 85 wide Patrik foil board, with a 7.8 sail maybe? The wing was very small too from memory because i was surprised he was even going. Im thinking somewhere around the 500-600 mark. Wind was variable but not super strong so maybe 12-14 knots. I was very surprised at how well he was going in those conditions with the gear he was on thats for sure.

I too have the aeon on order. At first I had the components ordered separately but I have changed my order to the PWA 450/650 foil set in the hope that all the shim kits, bags etc are included.

Please, no one tell my wife that my foil costs more than her car.

I was out with Patrik & Karin yesterday and he was on Foil Comp 85 wide, 450front & 4.8 then 4.2 Foil+ sails. Over 30knots. I was on 5.0 750/195 wings. I'm very slow on my second time out on the AEON. Beautiful kit.

That flat on the TE near the base of the F4 mast is pretty average.

Anyone has tried or uses the course race Patrik Aeon? With then 900 front wing? I'm curious on it's performance.

I can tell you the actual race foil from Patrik (not Aeon) Is really fast, and has excellent upwind angles. The mast is so stiff!!!

So hopefully the Aeon would be better. (But more expensive).

The first 2024 AEON Foil-sets, which are coming by air cargo, are arriving now and first have arrived :-)
Those by sea container will take some time longer.

Hi everyone, just checking in to see if someone has tested the aeon already
Patrik says their wings are powerful, like the 900 (biggest) has the power of a +80 cm2 other wing
The 750 too

I tried the 900 with L mast, 110 fuse on a Patrik Comp V2 100 Board with 9.0 foil+ sail
The board is so different than my starboard foil race 100. To get up with 8 knots took me a couple of minutes.... then when up in the air it was amazing. The foil did seem to be powerful (900 wing) specially on such low wind. And the stiffness of the mast OMG it's so so incredible (I have a C300 SB mast which really bends)

I also noticed I could get much better upwind angles.

I'm still working on my shims :-)

What ankle between foil-mast and fuse have you used?

i mean ankle between levelbox before the mast on the board and on the fuselage beween the 2 screws.

P.s. Michele Becker told me 3,0-3,5

Very interesting to hear an update on this one, I have the Phantom Iris R 950 VMG and considering an upgrade.. Have you been able to match VMG with other sailors?

I ride a Patrik Race foil, that is not the aeon, but has the same wing. I have the same if not bettter angle than a friend that has the same Iris R Phantom for CR. But 90% of the time we are very similar speeds and angles while going upwind. I am still trying to get the hang of the downwind but i suspect they will be very similar.

Tried it with 3.0 degrees.
I think that fuse rake of 3.0 3.5 goes better with Patrik boards, that are shorter and flatter, since before trying this kit I used it in my board (Starboard foil 100).

I have had the Aeon foils for a few weeks now.
I have the 900 M, 650H and 480H wings. V1 and V2 fuses Both ti. and I have the DimS and the XL masts and both stabs.
I have used them all but just getting my head round things.
It seems most people are using a +1' shim and most people have the stab in the rear positions.
here are my thoughts so far -
first a bit of background - i am 95kg, 58 and definitely not a PWA racer. I would call myself a "steady sailor" I can go many sessions without ever falling in but I don't foil at PWA speeds.
5 to 10 kts - XL mast , V1 fuse, 900 M, 195 stab +0.75 shim - It felt no dissimilar to my old AFS foil - would get me flying at about 6 or 7 kts and could then fly through 5kt winds with a Patrik 8.4 S2. Everything felt good, not too much lift in the gusts.
The next day started the same but I had the 165 stab and +1' shim and the foil felt a bit faster and better. The wind increased to about 15 kts and I was starting to sheet out the 8.4 sail so I changed the front whing to the 650 H. Things felt good, quick and easy to gybe. I think changed the sail down to 7.2 and kept the foil the same. The foil certainly feels low drag and the 650 wing flies as easily as my old 700 AFS.
Same foil again but this time with a 6.6 sail. All good, I could keep control even though over powered. Eventually I changed down to -
Patrik Foil Move with the S mast, V2 fuse, 480 H front wing and the 165 stab and +1' shim and a 5.4 sail. Now lots of things happened, the wind rapidly increased to about 20 to 25 kts. With the foil I was still having to use a lot of effort to get flying. In fact half the time I was blasting about as if I had a fin under my board, In a strange way the novelty of it was quite fun. The board is only 195cm and it seemed as happy on the water as above it. Anyway it took a lot of board speed to take off but once flying the foil felt a bit nervous but then I am not that used to such a short wing span and I guess that is inevitable. I think in general that foil likes to keep above 15 kts and as long as you are above that speed it was not difficult to gybe etc.
I would have used the V1 fuse but in my hurry to rig up and get back on the water I couldn't get the V1 off the other mast. I later had to take the foil off the board and stand on the fuse to get it off. I look forward to trying the 480 wing with the V1 fuse.
I think I will use the V1 fuse most of the time with as small a wing as possible so that I can keep flying so I have a comfortable but quick ride. BUT in the real non PWA world there are days when I don't want speed, those days where the waves are much taller than my mast, those days when you gybe down wave faces etc. For such days I think I will try the V2 fuse but with a bigger wing and see if that will give a more controlled ride in hard conditions.
Lots to play with.

1. Are you guys going on 10m2 up to say 18+ knots of wind speed at course racing VMG?
We were a group of sailors all with 9m2 , 70-85 kg but had no chance against 10m2 guys even in stronger winds,
My conclusion is that 10m2 sail is key for VMG up to act 18-20kn? Is it correct? (Of course with an iQ foil pro he would always be faster with 9.0 regardless of wind speed but for normal guys..)

2. Any of you with experience of 520 mast for 10m2 foil sails with luffs att 580?
