Big names head to WA for the King of the Cut

Next month Mandurah in WA will play host to some of the biggest names in Stand Up Paddling, with several international paddlers flying in for what some are calling ‘can’t miss’ Stand Up Paddling Event in Australia.

From Australia, the likes of Travis Grant, Beau O'Brian, Paul Jackson, Angie Jackson, Jake Jenson, Lincoln Dews, Karla Gilbert and Terrene Black will make up a more than capable pack of front-runners. Then flying in from overseas to chase them down is Zane Schweitzer, Leonard Nika, Belar Diaz and Tomo Murabayashi. That’s just some of the list of entrants, which is hoped to top 70 paddlers in this Stand Up Paddling only event.

So why is everyone heading to WA for the King of the Cut? Maybe because of the legendary conditions like a 20km run, blessed with 30 knots from the South West on cue, every single afternoon. Maybe it’s because the prize pool is the biggest ever in the southern hemisphere, $16,500 in total with $5000 going to the fastest male, and $3500 going to the fastest female. What about the world championship points being awarded to the front runners in the event? Or it might just be because of the reputation this event has now in it’s third year.

Run completely by volunteers, the King of the Cut puts all their entries into event costs and prizes. The SUPWA community has built on the event over the last few years, and 2014 is shaping up to be the biggest by far!

Pick one of those reasons above and get over to WA for this years King of the Cut, A stand up paddling event like no other!
