Paddling out to remember those who paid the ultimate price
These guys did both! Paddling out to watch the dawn service in Perth, WA, they got a SUP fix (with a 6km paddle!) and paid their dues as well, a great idea best told by the paddlers themselves:
“Not much surf over this side of the country on Anzac Day but a group of us hit the water on the Swan River at 5am for a 6km paddle down to near the flagpole at Narrows Bridge, under Kings Park where the Dawn Service was being held.
We listened as the faint sounds of the bugle carried down to us, watched the fly overs, read the Ode and had a minutes silence to pay respect to those that fought for our freedom, before making our way back.”
Next Anzac day, why not enjoy the sunrise and remember the fallen while out on the water? Better than sleeping in and missing it!
In other Anzac day news, DJ went for a paddle at a secret spot (or at least they’re not completely open about where it is) in the frigid waters of Victoria. Nothing like 3-4 degrees at 6.30am to wake you up.
