So now the Vic. Govt is resorting to bribery to have the test by offering $1500.
What a wank , they should be jailing those who refuse to have the test to safeguard the public.

Seems a Queenslander is bending the truth again to make a cheap political point. Maybe he works for that sack of crap Clive Palmer.

Didn't read the whole article, but they seemed to have glossed over the bit where there was no advance notice. ****s were just knocking on doors saying hey I'm gonna shove this up your nose. Random.
Anyway, get me a test. What am I gonna spend my 1500 on. I would like one of them new Reedin kites.

Yep, in this state there has always been help if you test positive and you don't have enough sick leave. A great idea that helps people to do the right thing without worrying about the $$$.
Again crap reporting designed to sell newspapers to the gullible masses. Next please

What don't you understand about 'no questions asked'He said to Wilkinson " "That is why we've put in place essentially a no questions asked hardship payment, a $1500 payment to deal with that perhaps as a disincentive to getting tested. "

Wow, I can't believe Qld is letting people return from Victoria without quarantine.

Are they at least testing them? You would hope that people aren't just assuming it will be okay and letting people in under the assumption that it will be okay. I think we have already seen how easy it is for this thing to take off again from cases brought into australia by returned travellers.

Why are people still getting it wrong? Is it because rules are too soft?

Are we respecting "human rights" too much and going too easy on people, letting things self-administer themselves?

Interesting that when a Labor government stuffs up with private contractors they cop it, but when the Libs stuff up with poorly appointed private contractors, leading to the abuse and mistreatment of detainees in offshore immigration detention centres with secretive controls, they get a pat on the back from the usual conservative apologists.

Hypocrisy.

Not at all pugwash. Just making an observation of the reality. In both situations the pollies deserve condemnation.

Is your response driven by your own biases and emotional reactions? Seem so.

Try something novel: address the subject instead of the same tiresome old character assessments. Show some grit and try and discuss a topic based on some conviction of your own.

If not, perhaps keep your nasty approach and views in the Heavy Weather section where character assassination and nasty trolling is the norm.

I've spoken to quite a few family's and couples from Melbourne on holidays where I live.
Pubs & restaurants are packed to
the legal capacity daily.
Not sure what the answer is but it's 8 degrees in Melbourne today & 24 here.
I dont blame them for getting out of Vic for holidays.

Wow

You are the real bono

There's way too much fire to unpack here... and not even the simple stuff like what is heavy weather?? Character assassinations... which is what you are attempting... hypocrisy, oh, nailed that one.

Anyways... Addressing the subject would require being on topic... not banging on about immigration centres, offshore detention and a whole bunch of other deliberately inflammatory stuff not relevant to the Victoria CV19 outbreak.

And, as you prepare your "you are just a troll for responding" reply, take a good look in the mirror, a deep breath and think why am I deliberately trying to stir this watersports forum up.

I really think our Premier Pallacheck has gone a step too far.
She has just announced Police will be spot checking inside trucks for people (vics) smuggling at the borders.

It's good to be the first state to have a second wave , it gets it over and done with early. NSW and Queensland will be next. 18 K test done in NSW, Vic 180 k .

What's this kato? You're on topic again? No way man! So refreshing after the troll's tiresome nasty garbage..

I reckon you might be right. The contributors who are making this political should be very careful what they say. I see NSW is recording new cases today and shutting schools and supermarkets....let's hope it amounts to nothing much.

Agreed. No one can be too comfortable with this, as NZ has shown. Every city and every state needs to be on guard. There need to be regular testing done in the community whether there is an outbreak or not, to try and head it off at the pass if one starts up.

That said, it is really really dumb to let people come in from overseas and let them out into the community! These hotel quarantines should be guarded and not just one guard on the floors. People are self-interested and will do what they think they can get away with.

Security guards are not hired for their intelligence, and contracting companies are not in business to do the best job. So it should be the government that is paying for top notch service, not hoping it will be okay.

Whats with senior bureaucrats being sacked from the quarantine task force in Vic.

There are growing rumours about the task force NOT going the way of Tas and NSW and using the adf for personal gain , pecuniary or other
I'll say it for you Kato
