The democrats had a coup

The democrat elites stepped in and withheld bidens money he needed to run his campaign.

The elites will pick his replacement too

The democrats are about as democratic as the earth is flat

Unburdened by what has been.

Burdened by what is.

What a circus !

Democrats looking a lot better today, maybe just honeymoon period. I was thinking if Trump toned his shtick down after the assassination attempt he would win for sure. But, he hasn't changed his tune at all. People will likely tire, and stop listening to the rants in next few months.

Unless there is some other bizarre twist still to come, we can assume Trump has pretty much secured the presidency.

Is this the bizarre twist?

I haven't got a crystal ball, it's still early days and could be honeymoon period playing out. She's also a far stronger candidate than I first thought.

No, she sounds human there. Not arrogant enough. I suspect that some of these debates are the deciders and it probably takes an arrogant wanker to sound confident enough to "win" them. "Win" seems to be a perception by the public rather than an actual win.

But certainly a better person to vote for than Biden, at least she has a personality that is not under deep scrutiny for the speed that the talk at. I wonder if its like Aus politics? I think here that someone could be a Labor or a Liberal voter and you replace their favorite candidate with a bag of sawdust and they would suddenly decide that the bag of sawdust is their ideal candidate anyway and vote for them.

I wonder if the US government does better with a collaborative thoughtful person or a narcissistic person?

Is it possible to become POTUS without being narcisstic in some way ?

I figure the US would do better if the president, as a head of state, had less executive power - or at least used it as it was originally intended and not how it has become.

I also figure the US would be better if the President wasn't just the political leader of one of the two ruling parties.

Maybe things would be shaken up if eligibility was limited to those who had never been a federal member of congress or something.

When I saw what vinyl albums Kamala bought it made me think what Trumps' taste in music is. Kid Rock was first to come to mind.

I wonder how the inevitable racist attacks on Kamala will be received by his Vice President given that Usha Vance is of I dian decent.

Does this hint at what happens normally? Do people care that much about policy or has it become or always been a popularity contest?

From a higher level, maybe people accept or assume that the party they almost always follow will have similar viewpoints and anyone they assign as the leader is just a figurehead?

I assume that it would be way too incongruous to have Trump the leader of the Democrats, but otherwise would you notice if one politician was replaced with the next and given the same speech to give?

I myself look forward to Trump resuming power so that the wall with Mexico can be restarted to stop all those pesky Mexicans going across and picking all their fruit

What's the point, we can't vote on it? All we can do is watch it play out and speculate on what we are seeing from a distance.

There wouldn't be too many Australians that would agree that another Trump presidency will benefit Australia.

Some of our right leaning, friends of Trump, on Seabreeze can enlighten the rest of us on how they think a Trump/Vance policies may benefit Australia.

As an obvious supporter of Trump, I feel that I am qualified to make comment:

I think it will give us all something to talk about for the next few years.

It will allow us to place bets on how long before someone else takes another pot-shot at him.

It will allow some insight into whether he really is stupid enough to start a war with Russia and China at the same time but for very different reasons.

It will allow us to easily identify people we wouldn't mind talking to in real life by mentioning 'I don't like Trump' and gauging their reaction.

It will finish that steel wall that ends in some farmer's land and move the new immigrants to some other entry point and temporarily slow down the speed of fruit picking in California and push up the price of fruit all across the USA.

Republicans painted as weird, be interesting how they manage to paint themselves as relevant in the next three months. They are very quiet now.

I'm sure there are more twists to come.

I think Trump stuffed it up after the assassination attempt, The fight fight fight thing didn't work, he should have stuck to that very brief moment when he was saying he would govern for all. But I guess that's not in his DNA.

Harris coronated at the dnc probably the final straw for Kennedy to join Trump.Dems will continue to run the clock down and shield her from any mishaps in her case, word salads.

I like how Kennedy has been courting both sides to try secure a position in which ever administration eventuates. Says a lot about what he is willing to compromise.

How are the Dems going to shield her?

Will be interesting to see what policy platforms they will champion now the DNC is over, I will admit that I've been underwhelmed by the amount of policy put forward by both, but particularly the Dems.

Only one party was trying to block him on the ballot.
And why is Kamala acting like the dems are not in power now.Cost of living is the only issue but maybe not for the likes of Oprah.

The share market has doubled since Biden took office. The share market was the only state of the economy Trump could understand, "How's your 401K's?"

I don't quite understand the Kennedy thing. I guess, not too dissimilar to Vance in that they are openly pursuing their own ambitions, and don't really have a political loyalty.

With the Dems, it's more of the same, so can understand why they don't speak a lot about policies. Trump has been watering down some of his more radical policies, much to the displeasure of the far right.

But there is not much policy involved in this race. Much more about personality. I find the show pretty interesting.

"But there is not much policy involved in this race." Was the 'actual' quote - bean head.

In regards to the Dems, no real shift away from what they've been doing.

I probably should have left this alone but it's worth nothing because you're old. Old people shouldn't vote on matters that affect the future... because it's not their future.

T.I.C. in case it wasn't obvious.

HH I feel a bit bad. I know you have been skooling me on 'what is funny', for which I am grateful for your insights, but I think I may have missed something.
Is your post really the standard of ".. nothing funnier..." ?
I would get the irony if it was a D.Dumper, taking a break from fundraising to post a meme for possibly the greatest stable genius and most incredibly wealthy man to ever own a casino and send it bankrupt. But otherwise I am just not getting the super funny bit.
