Thumbs Up

LOL I'm open to paid airfares adn accomodation - speshly if there is wind - bugger all in perth this season!

Mate don't be modest I bet you have had more hours crafting a sound than I have. Gettin in there and playing with the gear is something (sadly) I haven't been doing for some time now.

Bout due for some tweaking and recording where the hairs on ya kneck go up tho. Makes all the work worthwhile.

On the opposite end of the price spectrum, KM84s are good for overheads etc (but pretty old now) and Schoeps km 22 cm5/6 combos are simply the ducks knackers. So rich harmonically but soooooo smooth. I've only used them a couple of times but they just cant be beat. Around $1500-$2k per mic but worth it. Funny how most people can't justify big mic prices for a pencil mic tho.

Er.. BTW elbeau, hope you got ur drums sorted and sorry for hijacking your thread perhaps we need an audio dweebs thread here?

Thumbs Up

yeah i'm up for an audio dweebs thread.

honestly i'm not being modest, in the past everything has been demo quality but now we're getting more of a studio quality output.

we're working on getting some better calibre artists in there. i'd love to have some of the names you've done. almost got a band in there that we have been fans of for a very long time now. i guess you could say we begged. but it didn't pan out.

we got the poor mans version of the 84's, a pair of modified oktava mk-012. using them on toms. haven't given them a run on overheads as yet. shure beta52 on floor tom.

i've fallen head over heels for the daking preamps. or in our case, preamp. lol. there's more on the future shopping list. that, the syteks and the ma5 would cover every need for us.
