clive palmer bought a heap to use as fleet vehicles for his yabulu nickel plant operation in townsville. Pieces of crap.
My question is why would you bother when you can get a new dual cab deisel triton for $31 drive away with a 5/10 year warranty. if you can't afford that bit extra then you might have to go second hand quality over new POS
My mate got an extra-cab Triton for $27k drive away & his brother got a dual cab for $28k. He saw the price at a dealer in Townsville online and went to the local Mitsubishi dealer & they matched it.
Go the triton

Thats an awesome price I was happy to get one at 31000, I love it except for one thing the bluetooth in the triton is called that because thats how close you have to get your teeth to the airconditioner vents so you can hear anything coming from the stereo speakers from your phone, i look like a 140 year old man driving when someone calls me on the phone, Dont buy the great wall at least for a few years
In 10 years every one will winge about the new Indian imports calling it crap etc.....! The chinese cars will be well in Australia as the Japs did.
Well, hopefully the new indian imports are better than the TATA's. Don't see many of those on the road anymore.
Great wall is a dumb name for a car. That would be the first reason I wouldn't buy one.
What is the problem with gaskets containing asbestos? Unless one is in the habit of pulling heads off motors, then grinding the gaskets up and breathing in the dust, asbestos in a gasket should be pretty safe. There is a massive scare campaign over asbestos directed and funded by big trade unions for political purposes.
You have forgotten about the people who have mined, carted, processed and fitted the asbestos products to the vehicles.
It has taken years to bring the issue to stage in most, if not all first world countries, where the stuff is totally banned, and I'm only guessing but I reckon the asbestos used on the GWs has been sourced from a mine site in a Chinese provence (or some other developing region) where the average labourer has no idea of the death sentence he or she has been handed.
I'm not sure what political purpose you are talking about but if stopping more people from getting asbestos related diseases is the aim then I'm all for the "scare campaign".
X2
Everything else aside, i'd rather not have anything to do with a company who still uses asbestos, even if they claim its safe.
I was reading today that the new generation triton, navara and hilux are due out in 2014 and experience tells me its worth waiting. Either for a cheaper run out or a better model for the same price.
I really wanted a wrangler but the boss put her foot down lol

From non owners i hear all sorts of negatives but mainly only positives from owners.
I reckon they look pretty tough but they got voted #1 car most popular with gay guys in the USA!

^^ What he said. Much of the time about 30% of the fleet are off the road being repaired.

Drove one for the first time yesterday
Just got back from Vietnam, a communist country right next door to China, the vast majority are ridding Honda bikes or driving Toyota's. I never saw one GW in over 2 weeks, under any name, that would make you wonder
As for asbestos scare campaign, my father in law worked in Wittenoom and died a horrible death from asbestosis, it's terrible it's still being mined somewhere
