I have recently discovered the old adage that the best camera is the one you have on you. which in my case is my smartphone (it happens to be made by apple)

So i thought i would kick off an Iphonography thread (it could also be Galaxography or whatever- no brand fanboism required in this thread)

The fact that smartphones can also leverage a pretty powerful processor opens up some real opportunities for HDR and in phone processing / tweaking.

So the pics must be all taken on a smartphone - and edited on it as well. There is only 1 rule - no cheating!

I spend a lot of time professionally with DSLRs (more on the video side) - but am loving the fact that i can get some pretty great results with that small handy thing that is always around.

Right now i am loving " Pro HDR" and then in to "Snapseed" for some tweaks and am getting some pretty cool results.

Noice pics.

As she said, it's not the tool, it's how you use it.

they were probably scaled down somewhere between you taking the shot , instagram and getting them onto your computer. Often something will scale em down without you knowing.

I took some video footage from my iPhone of a storm that rolled through our camp last year.
All I did was pause the video and took a screan shot.
This is what I ended up with.

Agree totally!

George Greenough once stated that a unique photo/shot is far more valuable (to the person who took it, and probably also more valuable on the open market) than a a technically brilliant photo of something that has been photographed a thousand times. (George is more concise than me of course! - man of few words! ).

I don't normally like applying filters to photos but it seams to be the only way to get an interesting shot out of an iPhone
