So what - I hijacked the forum.

I wasnt having a crack at you, I agree with what you are saying. I have always had a good time at BDO.

More having a go at Funkys rant about BDO ect. If ya dont like JJJ listen RTR or sumthing jeez.

Stay calm and walk away quietly

Boobs (.)(.)

Don't be so polite Doggie, this is a forum.

I'm getting fired up because people are making flippant comments about something they know absolutely nothing about.

Big Day Out is a business. JJJ is a government station.

BDO wouldn't exist if enough people didn't buy tickets.
JJJ - who cares, listeners or no listeners - it will continue.

Australia from what i have seen doesn't do festivals

Festivals involve mud, rain stinky toilets, lots and lots of different genres of music and heaps of drugs. They go on for a number of days - either side of the official start and finish days. There are also 100's of thousands of people.

Rosskilde and Glastonbury are perfect examples

Righto Oliver, walk away quietly and think of (.)(.)

Yeh - I don't know them (but have had dealings with the preriphery of BDO over the years) and I guess they are business folks. Simple as that.

I have seen promoters go under coz they back acts and take (some) risks on projects they love and believe in.

West n co were once among this ilk. Now they fleece entry fees, from throngs of eager pill heads who maaayyybe wanna check out some acts between lines, and maximise the profit by choosing stodgy stoogey has-beens more regularly than not.

Hell - they are making money hand over fist so who am i really.

Sh!t of an industry if you give one about original music and attempt to foster it tho.

Having missed the last few BDO due to being a bit slow of the mark and not getting tickets in time, I enjoyed this years. Almost too hot,but when the bands play you bounce . Stand outs for me were Iggy,Rammstein, Jim Jones and Die Antwoord. Tool was just too weird and boring. Bring on next year

Really, if you enjoy it, listen to it. If you don't enjoy it, turn it off.

If you think about it, no-one should really have any control over the music tastes of others. However, you can choose what you listen to and spend your money on, so spend wisely on what you like. Maybe I am missing something.........

Swervedriver are coming to Australia this month (Perth Feb 20th.) so I personally will be sonically satisfied for a while.

Hi Jas73,

4zzz hold their hot 100 on jan 1st every year. began in 1977 i believe.
www.4zzzfm.org.au/events/hot100/

tonight on abc2 at 9.30 there is a doco about 6ft hick (brisbane band) and their tour through europe. i've seen this band several times now and they rock! the doco itself has been getting a lot of kudos.

quote
"This documentary takes stock of the 6ft Hick machinery: what motivates and drives them in a world where music is about cashing in or bowing out? Offstage, these same figures are humble, considered and witty, offering candid insight into what they've created.
