We've got about 4 threads at the moment that are based in race hate and religious vilification. I think most of the posters on this subject should go back to their Stormfront white power site.

I see a thread where Doggie quotes a media article, albeit inflammatory as the media tend to be.

Yes, there is some anti Muslim sentiment from soem posters, but.....
in that article, we see a court decision that essentially states all Australians, Muslim or otherwise are treated equally. That must be refereshing for you, and the total antithesis of racism.

Yes?

Yes Mark, but there was nothing there to start with. And there never will be. So it turns into a religious vilification....over what? A man beat up his Sis he'll face the court and he'll be dealt with, harshly I hope....There there's no story!

If I recall correctly I also said there was nothing there to start with

However, the accused person (well, his clever lawyer no doubt) brought religion into it and we discussed it.

Yeah, what's wrong with celebrities. My favorites are those C and D grade ones - you know, the ones that you vaguely remember from years ago, that will eat maggots and stuff just to get on TV.

Being honest and conducting an open conversation on the different views of different people is not being racist!

I am sick of people saying that others are racist if they speak badly of someone who is not of their own race. A d*ckhead is a d*ckhead wether they are Christian, Muslim, black, white, asian, hispanic or aboriginal. If I say that the d*ckhead was black does not mean that I am a racist, it means that I am being descriptive. "for goodness sake, don't say the d*ckhead was a redhead... That's racist against gingers!"

A racist is someone who judges other based on their race. It is not racist to say that there are differences in beliefs between different cultures. It is not racist to say that I do not agree with these beliefs.

Everyone is so concerned about being politically correct that they do not stand up for what they believe for fear of being labeled a racist.

By the way, I am completely against people who a genuinely racist and trust me that you will hear the difference between a genuine racist and what is discussed in these forums. Some of the people you call racist have simply been misinformed and disagree with the position they believe to be perpetrated!

Luckily, in our culture, you are entitled to your own opinion so I won't say that you are wrong and for the like, neither am I as this is a difference of opinion and not a black and white (no pun intended) argument.

I dont think Im racist, I expect a fair go far all. At my work we have all walks of life here and we generally dont have any race problems at all. The guy from the Philippines pisses me off a bit but that a personality thing not a race thing.

I have a bigger problem with dumb Aussies who think I should be able to read their fricken minds and that are so pigheaded I just want to...................... [}:)]

I say this quote says it all for me.

I imagine a forum to be like a Pub. If you like a conversation join in. If you don't walk away but remember how you interact could determine the way your treated. Be it in the pub or on line

If don't want to inflame a situation stay away from it simple

Yeah I think if I was at a pub and heard some of the comments made hear I would probably leave the pub thinking, when did Pauline Hanson take over the lease?

But your right this forum should be like the mainstream media, just there to get one viewpoint across, heaven forbid people's opinions are heard.

Yep opinions are opinions, however they can shape others thoughts and opinions and even educate, however I thought journalism was fair, balanced and critical thinking, not pushing press releases and chasing ratings.

But I guess if your dumb enough to get your facts from the 6 o'clock news than your dumb enough to believe them and dumb enough to vote for them. Eg most of the cashed up bogan generation

That isn't directed at you Panda, just the news on our tv is a poor representation of journalism for the most part and current affairs... A dispute with your neighbour isn't current affairs, it's trash.. The attitudes that this thread is about are increased by the media and way they report things.

Indeed, comercial television news and current affairs is rubbish.

Unfortunately the stations are obligated to try to achieve the highest ratings. This means they are forced to present the mind numbing crap they do purely because its what the viewing masses demand to see.

sad reflection on society really.

SBS news seems ok to me
