you're right bazl....
i'm sorry.
i also forgot the land kiters and sailors...... they should be involved too.
sometimes i'm a little fawlty...
on the weekend i held a 400mm F2.8 IS prime. (needed both hands)
then got handed a 200mm f2.0 prime. at that stage i was feeling flush,
then old mate lent me his 100-400mm for the afternoon and as i was packing up let me play with a 100mm 2.8 macro, 50mm prime and 10-22mm wide.
damn you old mate. now i need to come up with $1800 for a 100-400mm!!!!
Canon 100-400mm L is 1200 AUD in Hongkong...i just came back with one.
That's it now - no more cash to spend on anything other than food for several months!
First shots below (cropped) didn't have much time and Sun was going down...

i really like your top photo zippy, and that price is very sweet.... do you know anywhere that sells online for that price? i'm not likely to head to hongkong anytime soon.
oh sorry it was 12K HKD so more like 1800 aussie.. ouch.
How to justify paying that much? Well as any accountant will tell you, money has a time value...and since a well built lens should ast a long time, I figure I could still be using it 10 years from now, and it will still be great quality. So divide 1800 by 10 years, and then by 52 weeks, it works out at only 3.5$ per week. So if I buy one less cup of coffee per week it's the same. And I don't even really like coffee, I only drink it to help me wake up.
See...easy !
Wow, look at the stink-face on that kid surfing. I thought it was supposed to be fun.
KInda reminds me why I don't bother much with it anymore.
