Benjamin "Ben" Roberts-Smith, VC, MG (born 1 November 1978) is an Australian businessman, former Australian Army soldier, and a recipient of the Victoria Cross for Australia (VC), the highest award in the Australian honours system.[1] Roberts-Smith was awarded the VC for his actions during a helicopter assault into Tizak on 11 June 2010 as part of an offensive in the Shah Wali Kot region while serving with the Special Air Service Regiment in Afghanistan.[2] The medal, together with his Medal for Gallantry awarded during a tour of Afghanistan in 2006, made Roberts-Smith the most highly decorated member of the Australian Defence Force.[2] He was presented with the VC by the Governor-General of Australia, Quentin Bryce, at a ceremony in Perth on 23 January 2011.[3] He was also later awarded a Commendation for Distinguished Service for his leadership as a patrol commander during a 2012 tour of Afghanistan.

Roberts-Smith left the full-time army in 2013 to study business at the University of Queensland. In 2015 he was appointed Chair of the National Australia Day Council, and made deputy general manager of the regional television network Seven Queensland. He has subsequently been promoted to general manager of the rural network and of metropolitan station Seven Brisbane.

You appear to be making an "argument from authority". It's a formal fallacy.
Do you mean to suggest that this bloke with a long list of palmares is incapable of doing something dopy?
If so you will need more evidence.

Yknow cobra 9/10 people who are prison ghey argue that muscle looks better with some tatts on it. Sure there's something not latent in there? You don't find yourself saying to yourself "if I had to boof a bloke, Like if someone held a gun to my head etc' not that there's anything wrong with that...

And this is the point...

Tattoos used to be associated with unsavoury characters. Prisoners, crime gangs, eg. Japanese Yazoka, nasty garbage like the bikes, etc. They pricked their hide with all kinds of craps which mostly resemble a blob of ink with no artistic merit whatsoever. Characters like such intelligent and civilised persons, eg. Seabreeze, would keep well away from. Yet hipsters took it on like a batch of honour. So what is the point ?

Why? I have one, it's a personal thing and can't be seen unless I want to show it. I like it and I'm glad I had it done. No regrets at all.

I guess according to you I'm a goose and you don't know me, I thought you were more intelligent than that.

That comment just shows me that you are an intolerant goose.

Is it a picture of you suping in the Ment's

I think if you want a tatt you should wait a year and see if you still want it, then maybe repeat that process several times.

There was a whore who had tattooed above her pubes the words "Payment Before Entry.".

Then there was the sailor who had "The Fox Hunt". Horses and riders on his belly and chest, hounds going down his back and the fox,s tail coming out his back side.

Then there was the stoker (Navy engine room hand) who had flames coming out his arse with a devil shoveling coal up it on his left cheek and an angel on his right cheek with a fire extinguisher.

Do I think tattoos are cool? No!! I think they are a wank, particularly in today's society. Even on the most beautiful woman a tattoo makes her look like a skank. On blokes I think they show immaturity and insecurity.

The human body is beautiful as it is and needs no enhancements. For special occasions like an Hindu wedding, temporary body painting with henna I think is fine.

Would I employ a person with tattoos, generally speaking NO, especially no if the job involved dealing with the general public. Why would anybody put that kind of hindrance on their business unless it was selling tattoos??

Do I dislike people with tattoos? Generally no unless they (the people or tattoos are offensive) but they do make me wonder what their motivations are.

No doubt some people here will take offence at my having this opinion. That is too bad for them and I doubt there is anything they can say that will change my opinion. It is my opinion and I am happy to own it.

getting a 1% tattooed on my neck Won't make me an outlaw bikie" could get me killed though"
Other things make gang members ,the tattoo is good, it helps people like me to stay clear.

ive spoken to a few tattoo artist and they all informed me 70% are young women.
they always scoff at the face tattoo stories,,OZ tattooist can't tattoo anyone's face rolling drunk
druged out of their mind , it's called duty of care they also tell clean skins to think about it.

anyone could get a tattoo on their neck yes it could be screaming look at me, but if its not a tat its
green hair face jewelry beard red jeans muscle shirt walking down the street singing loud with no shoes
Or shirt on.they don't hurt me I don't care and I'll have a chuckle to myself.

i could say that rideing wind boards mean, that they are spankers can't surf look stupid and never got over flying kites as a kid, that's my opinion I'm happy to own that,, but I've never done it so what would in know..........then I'd sound like the peeps that call a tattoo father
that lost a child and wanted a "tattoo that means "so much in our short life's . Not to be judged as a idiot ,biker ,poser wanker.

its funny judging peeps from a keyboard hey let alone from a glance across the road.
It's also funny People that say if you don't vote you don't have a say
WELL if you don't have a tat knowone gives a **** what you think or judge.

I don't have any but I'm cool with them.
a lot of people point out intolerance of this groupie that, there are a lot of good people who I know who have Tatts,
married couples with a wedding ring tattooed on their finger shows a bit more commitment than a shiny piece of metal.
mates who passed and the old boys got a sketch photo done up, a spirit creature, a proper tribal tatt, a lot of the Finns in extended family have the Valkyrie which is from the chest up the arm. This is a guaranteed way to get into Valhalla.
Mates with kids names or wife so on and so forth.
pretty boring society if we were all the same.
go to any housing commission district and start a fight and the postcode lads come out pretty quick..
yes some are a bit full on but really there are things people want to do and are of no harm to others so let it be.

the only thing I just don't get is the earrings that stretch your ear out to a big hole, me mate calls them national geographic and it's kinda funny..

This thread has become quite entertaining, all sorts of views, there are even tattoo clubs that show where you rank within the club, but it's a club I would never join, even though I have some, but it's not club worthy. They do look very welcoming and a very friendly bunch. No facial ink here, must not have any MS13 members in their club.

No cobra. Tattoos are nothing more than a fashion. They will date and age and you will be stuck with them. And the do make women look like skanks, but I like that in women, just not any that I'm related to. And how you admire them on other men is more then a bit telling.

Judging by the vast number of tattoos evident today there is quite a clear meaning behind them, meaning that the majority of folk who sport them appear to have very little imagination.

Or perhaps too much. Who knows. If the objective is enhancement, and you would have to assume that it is in most cases, it is really clear that there is a ubiquitous lack of style accompanying the lack of imagination.

But then you only have to look at modern architecture to appreciate lack of imagination and lack of style.

Wow im stunned at the level of judgment regarding tattoos

So if you judge tattoos, is it also okay to judge over weight people, what about people who shave their heads, different coloured skin, its all the same Judge someone by their actions not how they look. A guy i've know for nearly 15 years, clean skin, super healthy, smart and successful was just raided and found to be a major cannabis grower and has been locked up..Remember The old saying you cant judge a book by its cover

As Cobra points out is it right to judge someone by the craft they ride, should we judge people by their choice of employment

Were does it end, just because you don't agree doest make it wrong..As Razz points out, life would be pretty boring if everyone was the same..
