I sorry you are all wrong.

Current can flow in multiple directions.

When I anchor in the Brisbane river and the tide is coming in the current flows up stream. at slack water the current stops, and when the tide is going out the current flows down stream.

Thats called AC. Its just DC flow with the phases reversed every 6 or so hours. lol
