Broke my trusty ol' Ozi Concave boosting off a hydrant back in the day. 
Glad to see the authorities are now encouraging that behaviour! 
similar thing happened to me on a stand-up last year about 2k off the coast, water like glass, thought i saw a whale; then after standing still and looking for 20min i gave up and continued paddling. about one minute later and than less than a few feet in front of me this thing breaches and i totally died in the ass...
