I don't think the Cube should be in this list. I was inspecting one today, I don't think it's ugly, it's different, In 15 years time they will be collectable. People shouldn't be so racist. Agree with the thing above - it's fugly.

It's amazing that some of these cars were ever manufactured.. You would think at some point in the design process someone would have said "that is f*ing ugly!"

I spoke to someone from Ford Australia at a training course once, and I think they were saying they thought (as in Ford) the AU falcon's saggy ar5e was fine, until they got feedback from the public. Maybe some people thought it looked fine, but I am just guessing that they were told to use as much of the USA model as they could in order to keep costs down.

For every ugly car around there was someone that thought 'hey that looks good' , and there are also customers that probably liked it.

Of course, none of us are in that last group

Although not a production car this "monstrosity" spotted on the side of the road in Leongatha Victoria certainly appears to have been given a good belting with the "Ugly Stick". A bit of research and some anecdotal evidence points towards this being one of two that were built and used to ferry the "metre maids" around the Gold Coast many years ago. Badged as a "Rambler Royce" this entire car appears out of proportion, the "Gold" livery just adds to the gaudiness and kitsch appearance, some beautiful details but IMO an absolutely atrocious finished product.

I'm pretty sure the guy who drives that thing wears a matching suit.

I didn't see who was driving it but I'm pretty sure he left the window down hoping to hell someone would steal it . . . . .

Of course it's a car, it's BMW's version of the Fiat 500. One of the best looking cars ever. The line between best and worst is blurring on this thread. Yours for $25,000.

Almost - but not quite, it's BMW's version of an Italian Isetta, made under license in several countries as both 3 and 4 wheelers.

4 wheel versions were more stable - but 3 wheelers were popular in the old dart due to licensing benefits.
[similar to the reliant robin - cheap rego + driven with a motorcycle license]

no doubt i'll offend some with this one, as there are a few kicking around on the gold coast.

the front looks alright, back end needs some lovin. I think it's that horizontal join down the middle that makes it look like the top of one car has been attached to the bottom of another?

Lightburn Zeta has to get on the podium. What was the fibreglass kit car that you put over a VW chassis that was trying to be a lotus. That thing was wrong.

Ahhh man... I am thinking about buying one of these I think they don't look too bad, but I guess that's the way it works.

For a van, there is only so much you can do.

yeah, suffering the same consequence as the newer commodore. i just can't adjust to the slopey headlight/taillight/indicator look that is a character of many smaller asexual asian made cars. everything is slowly starting to look the same to me.

the protruding taillights are probably now more prone to damage, should one actually use the car for what it was built for [rollzeyez]

The Mazda Roadpacer built by GMH.& yes powered by a rotary engine .rare as hens teeth now.

They were sold to Mazda & the Japanese denzo mechanics plonked a 1.3 litre
rotary in it they battled to get up hills .

All I right in thinking these had no reverse gear so if you parked too close to something in front of you then you couldn't open the door to get out and you were stuck?

That's it clarence the purvis eureka. If the smell of unlined fibreglass didn't get to you; the lack of insulation and air conditioning would. They look better in photos than they did in real life. All the overhangs and scale were just plain wrong. Quite a few dodgey kit cars overseas at that time as well!

Are you sure they qualified as ugly? It doesn't look that way to me. Its just a HQ.

The bit I read was that the rotary was at least equivalent to the 202 of the time. Even though some people call it a 1.3, the 13B was/is really more like 2.6 litres equivalent, and can rev a whole lot further than a 202.

I would be surprised if it were slow.
