My old man who was a history lecturer at Rhodes university in Gatstad, put me onto questioning who built the pyramids and gave me a book that was very plausible but went way out of left field in terms of the lining up of the shafts with constellations.

They reckon they discovered a piece of timber up one of the shafts using a cable controlled vehicle that had a camera on it but the operation was shut down before they could get a drill up there to take a core sample and carbon date it.

They have since been roundly poohed poohed in circles that receive select artefacts and access.

The following link gives another fascinating look at the possibility that these guys were right and that they built by a global population from another era. I had a look at the slides first and then the interview.

Lots of very compelling evidence!

When are we going to admit that humans are clever and just cos it was 5,000 years ago they were not dumber than us.
We seem to think we are so advanced and clever and that way back when they must have been dopey and needed aliens to do it

Not so sure about the whole 'sun god' thing, but he does raise a good thought on the origin of the pyramids themselves.

Dunno about the pyramids but in Collapse by Jared Diamond he talks about building the Easter Island statues.

There was all sorts of speculation about how they did it but nobody ever asked the surviving locals. Eventually they did and the explanation was "... get a shot load of people. Grab hold and heave." They then demonstrated it.

So my guess is that the pyramids were built by a heap of little brown guys with plenty of time on their hands. It's not that hard to imagine when the rulers thought they were immortal, they had a priest class with a vested interest in developing perpetual symbols of their power, and a reliable and stable economic and agricultural system.

It does not explain away the anomolies that are found all over the world. There is just too much evidence there, for me anyway, that there was a civilisation that existed way before tutenkamen and his lot.

How the hell do you explain the pyramid below the sea in Japan?

The Gypos have got too much of a vested interest in promoting their ancestors as the blokes who did it but no real evidence of when. Just too many anomolies for me Mark, too much evidence that has the potential of throwing the whole thing on it's head, including our true origions.

Can you imagine the conundrum that that puts into the heads of our popular religions? If it could be conclusively proved most of our understandings would be turned on their heads and a lot of institutions would become irrelevant and you can understand the will to stay with the status quo.

why is everybody always so surprised and sceptical when its suggested that ancient peoples were capable of great feats of engineering or building?

ancient cultures developed much of the building priciples and mathematics we still use to this day. the romans built concrete structures far superior to anything today, ancient bridges and city walls still stand in asia, not to mention temples and churches.

the answer is simply that they were built using huge reserves of manpower and materials

Who said anything about a conspiracy theory? There is one hell of a lot of unexplained evidence that a civilisation existed before the ice melted. Far too much for an enquiring mind to ignore.

Did you look at the video I posted? Is there anything there that made you think, or are you happy to go with opinions?

If popular opinions were always right then we would never have got off the ground and anyone who thought that a heart could be transplanted 60 years ago would have been ridiculed for being a dreamer.

I can hear your ancestors, Saltiest, shouting burn the Witch! Burn Her!

And what is pretty obvious? One needs to be a little more informative when barracking from the sidelines if one intends to become involved in rational debate

What a load of bull5hit - with erroneous "facts" like 5.3 sq km base area, that would make each side at the base around 2.3km long. Somewhat larger than the actual 240metres or 53000 sq. metres.

Thanks Doggie! And why.

How do you explain the skeletons found in South America of people over 2 meters tall?

There is a record of one being found by a priest who was a collector of relics. He burned it because it was the devils work. That does not cut with me.

There are so many ancient records of giants existing on the earth and yet when evidence is found the not in million yearers shout conspiracy! I am still waiting for someone to tell me what their explanation is about how a chrome ball, a metal discovered in Austria not very long ago, found it's way into a statuette dated as over 4000 years old?

How do you explain the medical instruments crafted out of Lydite? What do you make of the experts telling us that they have no idea as to how they could be made today as we do not have the technology?

I have a basic understanding of biology which I learned thirty years ago. If someone then had told me that they thought there might be animals that live with their tail at a temperature of 200C and their head at 3C I would have scoffed at them. Now I know that they exist!

I keep an open mind as to the possibility that there is a lot of stuff that we do not know about now

Can hear you too Sausage, standing at the end of the field shouting at the Wright brothers: You are mad, it will never get off the ground! Not in a million years!

These guys that question the status quo, all stark raving mad they are, wasting their time even looking at stuff that has not been explained to their satisfaction

Yea I just read about what you talking about on the link posted, that chrome ball in the statue is very strange and the giant skulls ect. Its not hard to beleive that ancient people had tech that we dont know about. They have found what they think was a battery in Pompei so they could have forged steel and had chroming techniques ect.
Yes an open mind on this type of research is mandtory

the summerians (who predate egypt) had the knowledge of how to build pyramids and it is thought naval capabilities and celestial plotting as well as writing. they also had religion and gods and were the first civilisation to adopt town planning and architecture. it is thought that the summerians travelled across the globe and taught other cultures their knowledge and religions. i think there my be carving of summarians in temples from that period around the world.

the flood mentioned in the bible is said to be a direct copy of the sumarian flood stories.

eventually the summarians become the babalonians (no-one knows exactly why)and went on to become what we know as egyptian and then persian.
through that time the religions morphed from babalonian to egyptian and then onto christian/muslim. the stories were rewritten and the amount of gods varied until the christian version of one god.

there are some theories that freemasonry has a direct link to the egyptians

well that's my understanding anyways. could be off the mark in a few areas. so no conspiracy or aliens

My bet is the petermaccians were lead by their ruthless king Japie and his witch doctor sidekick with the feline face and strange round green headwear..

Possibly more relevant to the average person is - "Who left the brown spire on my front lawn!?"

I like your pussy! Does he react if you play with him? Reckon if you put some antennas on his helmet Peter might be able to communicate with him

Trancendental orgasms transmitted through your avatar and your pussy Women would become obsolete

Seriously though, I watched the slide show with this geezer and he finances all his research in his spare time. He is actually an art exhibitor working for wages, for a museum from recollection. He has done some fascinating work and if you can put up with the Austrian english it is very mind provoking. Like everything it leads to more questions than it gives answers.

I studied history at school and uni. At school in Tanzania I had to memorise all the kings and queens of England. At uni I studied medaeval and roman history. What the **** for?

This stuff is far more interesting and, I like to think, helps us make a small step toward finding out what our true history is and taking a greater step toward achieving our true spirituality

I reckon it is a worthwhile goal, don't you, to investigate a few clues that may well lead us to the absolute truth.

Because as sure as eggs are eggs we have been fed some pretty curly ones over the centuries and it has led to and is still leading to some very tragic stuff

How is it the Giza pyramids could still be standing today after thousands of years of earthquakes and decay?

"The mortar used is of an unknown origin. It has been analyzed and it's chemical composition is known but it can't be reproduced. It is stronger than the stone and still holding up today."
www.crystalinks.com/gpstats.html

Egyptians put hieroglyphics EVERYWHERE, but why were there none in the pyramids of Giza? You'd think if they made such a huge significant monument they would at least want people to know it was made by them.

So many things just don't add up at all. It's pretty obvious humans didn't make the pyramids with copper tools, anyone who believes that is a tool themselves. Use some logic and look past the disinformation you've been fed.

My dog crapped in a carpark a while back, on the top floor. A great big steaming pile of processed Eukanuba. I put it into a bag but a bit of the fourteen year old came out in me and instead of binning it I wound it up and let go.

It flew across the street on a downward ark and landed on the second story window sill of a dentist on the other side of the road.

I have never had the guts to go over and ask what happened when it was discovered. I was quite disappointed when it was removed after a few weeks.

I have always wondered where they thought it came from and what sort of decay it was in and whether they did the right thing and put it in the bin or just pushed it into the street for some poor unsuspecting dog hater to tread in.

It's those small things that help us keep our sanity

Hey Dextrous this is my thread and you get no argument from me. I give you full permission to go above Laurie and usurp the forum rules as far as personal attacks to stupidity is concerned

Pay no attention to comments from folk who are not prepared to look objectively at the evidence.

Some of the explanations from contemporary Egyptologists about the purpose for the shafts are quite puerile. We also know that at the same period the Mayans had retained some incredible mathematical knowledge which we have trouble explaining today.

I am a third degree free mason but that does not give me the authority to comment on their origions. My understanding is that masonry, as in building became entwined with free masonry through their ability to do mathematical calculations when building, and they needed to protect that knowledge as it was thier livelihood.

They use a lot of allegory to Solomons temple in their rituals but this does not mean to say that that is the origion.

I am sure someone will have an opinion. I will let you tell them if they are wrong!

It is mind boggling isn't it? The video posted by Dextrous talked about carbon dating the coral right on the rock which put it before the ice melted.

I am certain about it myself, but what happened? Where the **** did they go and why did they leave so little evidence?

My own personal feeling is that underwater research is going to yield more than we can envisage and we are only just beginning to scratch the surface.

That genetic disc made out of lydite is something else. Whilst a lot of the detail is clear what is with the other detail that we cannot explain? If that does date back to 10,000 years ago and the people who made it did have that knowledge then why did we have to rediscover it just recently? Was it lost or was it erradicated? If so why? And by whom?

A cateclysmic event like a massive asteroid does not explain why only this species were all but erradicated. Likewise flooding. People who look as though they could map the world and the stars do not suddenly become extinct all alone because their cities are innundated.

Must have been a conspiracy
