Fishing requires that your boat will get blood and sh!t all over it, then there is the squid ink . I almost went down that path, glad now I didn't.
Get an ali with a 4 stroke, a small cab will allow for overnighters , make sure it has a deckwash!. The 4strokes these days are exceptionaly economical. I have a 115 Honda it has done 1290 hours, and NEVER missed a beat in the 7 years I have had it.

As a first owner think long and hard about the reality of the above mentioned boat.

If I was given a Bayliner as you have mentioned, it would be Swapped for a FISHING boat

The boat looks nice, but not what what I would use to fish on.

Check this out

20 Quintrex Offshore Cuddy Cabin

A combination of roomy cockpit and high protective cabin makes the 600 Offshore a natural fishing platform. It doesn't take too much imagination to see how it could be build into a really first-class fishing rig.
In fishing situations you simply fold down the rear lounge, or leave the seat base at home. In either case you end up with a comfortable leg-pad to lean against when you're fishing out of the stern.
Having the extra 'strike watch' seats also means you can sit out of the way of people fishing down the back.
The Cuddy Cabin has a very large berth great of both storage and a quick kip in between bites! This package sits on a registered trailer, an overall tidy package and priced to sell. For more photos of information contact our sales team on 1800 1800 53. Lake Macquaries Largest waterfront marine brokerage. If you have similar stock and would like it SOLD contact our office today for your consignment package.

The 135 Mercruiser Motor is an inline 4 cylinder. Because it is not a cross flow motor, it has one manifold for both exhaust and inlet. They have big issues with internal corrosion which will lead to the engine ingesting water. Unless it has been fitted with a heat exchanger and closed cooling system. Ask me how I know. It really is best kept in freshwater with a shoreline in every direction. You would be best to get an outboard for offshore work. Older Bayliners had some major issues with timber stringers and transoms rotting out as well. Best to look for an all glass boat. The older Haines Hunter 17 footers are great boats fitted with a newer four stroke outboard. My 2 cents worth.

How come so few catamarans on the market? Had some experience with a Maxicat many years ago and it was an awesome boat. If I look on boat sales there are 11,700 mono hulls, only 391 multi hulls. It's a smart market so there has to be a good reason(s), interested to know what they are.

Thanks for the plug. But i think you saw the Cruise Craft I normally really only like to sell Aussie built offshore rigs so Dilanrosa you might not like my answer

Happy to point out the pros and cons to any boating issues. Most should know i have the time i'll just stay of SB for a bit

Paddymac not so many cats mostly due to cost issues. They are alot more expensive and the especially in WA we don't really get the same needs as say the East coast of Aus. Bar crossings, travel through surf were stability is a big issue.

You should be able to get one of Tony and Scott's Indonesia boats on the cheap from their indo boat clearance warehouse as the fellas start buying them from the fishermen thinking of using them for a bit of people smuggling on the side .if you get one don't go anywhere near Christmas Island because it will either sink as any Aussie navy boat approaches or will be towed to Indonesian waters and left there

Not always, I actually bought my boat from jbshack , 7 years ago, and apart from rewiring the deck wash , and servicing each year, I haven't spent a penny on repairs.

Previous boat was a 18ft Pacemaker (great sea boat) with a 90 2stroke evinrude on it , same as present boat, NO breakdowns, NO extra costs other than regular servicing. Maybe I'm just lucky
Mates up here with boats (Exmouth) will say the same about theirs as well.
Most good quality outboards , if looked after will not cost any more than your car to run and maintain.
Talk to jbshack he will point you in the right direction.

By the way Benny , Got a boat??

This is true if you're buying an old bunky.
If you've got a 30k budget you'll get something quite decent which won't require expensive repairs but just general maintainance.
Buy wisely, keep it well maintained, seviced etc and it will cost you about the same as a car to maintain.
My suggestions if you want a general all round boat for fishing, rotto etc would be something like these...

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/perth-region/motorboats-powerboats/quintrex-540-spirit-boat-90hp-honda-4-stroke/1028325324
www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/singleton/motorboats-powerboats/quintrex-600-oceansport/1028278011
www.boatshack.com.au/bshakboats-for-sale/used/trailer-boats/quintrex-580-spirit-4-stroke-power/125713

(BTW i'm not endorsing Quintrex it's just in the couple of minutes i spent searching these ones were in your price range)

Yep and there's the magical saying. BUY WISELY

Yeah jb I'm serious, the boat is a 6mtr Quintrex, didn't do a trade on it.
Never lived in the hills , were in Manduah at the time. I remember something about the previous owner using it to catch aquarium fish ?
had 600 hrs on the motor, and never misses a beat. now pushing 1300, and just like new

Thanks again jb
