I realise that this may be somewhat inflammatory, and so I apologise. This post can be taken down as needed.
It's also likely to have a fair bit of crossover between the two depending on wind conditions.

I'm a resident of Gero and I don't kite or windsurf. I'll SUP occasionally, but ... anyway.

Are there more kitesurfers or windsurfers in Geraldton? Is there a straw poll anywhere that can tell me?
Just wondering.

Cheers
Fooz

Why do you ask if you neither windsurf or kitesurf? It's a strange wonder for a first post. To me you are fishing for commercial reasons. Just sayin"

More people probably do meth in gero than kiting or windsurfing combined

My suggestion is that you go to the local shop and ask them their impression.

Agreed - wonder why a 1st time poster is asking with no intro as to why....?
Are you CCI or City asking for project reasons? Tourism type? Looking to start something like a store?

My observations are at least double the windsurfers at the beach the last 2-3 seasons, but it includes the considerable number of tourists. As for locals, dunno as many do both and surf and SUP etc.... I'd guess at maybe 1.5x times more windsurfers locally.

^^^^^pppffftttt, tell him he's dreamn.
At least 5 times more kiters now days,
Back 15 years ago it was about 50/50, but now nearly all the old polers are either dead or have gotten enough experience to progressed on to a kite.
Hope this helps.

Tbh I'd say it's on an even par when I've visited, which is fairly regular unsure if it's locals tourists though, speak to Kitewest or windsurf wa
im behind the wind and water project which is a group of great like minded locals and buisness crew to promote the region for wind and water lovers which in turn gives local buisness a boost, pm me and I'll give you details, nothing wrong with getting on board buisness wise but you gotta give not just take, in fact there's plenty of buisness that'll take and are taking advantage of others hard work with no assistance or input into the project

This is is Geraldton, not NSW, so Marks ratio is about right.
When I visit I'm always amazed by the number of international windsurfers,
some of them even travel from Maui to sail at Corros

You are like one of those people that are Vegan and run around asking why others are happy to eat meat. I guess if it floats your boat.

Have you ever accepted that you too are allowed to windsurf? I know its a bit intimidating, but you could get there with a bit of practice.

Hey Lotofwind. I think stalking is actually illegal in Australia. You should try and reign in your unhealthy obsession with anything Mark Oz says.
Its pretty creepy seeing this play out.

Just sayin

^^^ Yeah it seems.

Or what they think they saw on a visit 15yrs ago is more likely to be correct than what a local saw every day in the last couple of yrs.

No you are, lol
Im rubber and you are glue

Hey, Im just being honest saying what I saw when I was there 15yrs ago and when I was there a few weeks ago. If you don't like it.......I cant help that, its just how it was, not my fault.
Hey, who knows, I might have just been lucky to score it recently without nearly no windsurfers in sight, win for me I guess. And for the time I was there I mainly went out late arvos, so maybe all the oldies had left for the 4:30pm pensioners early bird specials at the bowls club?

One of the kiter locals said he sees it at about 50/50 atm, bit different to some of the other so called locals who obviously exaggerate lol

Some dude on the east coast says he never sees the old slow windsurfers anymore, maybe 1 windsurfer to 20 kiters.
He's pretty keen to tell us all about it as much as possible.

But this is about Gero huh?
All I know is I counted 60W vs 20K in the peak Xmas-New years week last season, about same the season before too. This season has been less windy but on the 18-20kn or 20-25kn days I still see at least double the windsurfers. On the real marginal days less windsurfers of course, about 1:1 and its the intermediates mostly out on those days. Once its 35kn solid it is about 5:1 but that's understandable.

The facts may be unpalatable to some, but that doesn't change the facts.

Hey shame for you that I missed your visit Loto.

So Fooz, again - why u asking?

I was looking and asking around the locals about you when I was there but none knew who you were, are you only new to the area or don't go there much? Seems no one in the area knows who you are ? Do you actually live here ?
To be honest I was only out on week days over a couple of weeks, so maybe all the weekend warriors are mainly poledancers ?? Don't know. Can only report on what I saw. The other local kiters seem to think 50 to 50 at best, must be on the weekends though,

Depends on conditions also , good wind n swell brings out the poleys a bit more, kites are a lot more efficient so that certainly from my visits makes a difference, in the nationals the top 3 we're locals nuf said

^^^^^ Yep, think you are right mate. When I was there it was averaging 25kn most days, so most polers would be struggling to get up and boogieing , I guess, as you said, they aren't as wind efficient , so if it was 35kn white cap bumpy as crap conditions there maybe more polers ?

You stalk him on the forum and then you turn up in Geraldton asking about him.

He just said it was a shame he didn't get to meet me while I was there. It would have been rude not to say G'day to one of my seabreeze mates while I was in town.
