Nothing wrong with spending half your life doing nothing...

You might find that there is a lot of apps running that you cant see.
Easy to rectify if that is doing it.
I had a samsung galaxy and with the same usage I am doing now on my Iphone it used to only last 7 or so hrs.
I phone gets me easily through the day...

My current Samsung galaxy battery has died after 2yrs & started using my wife's old iPhone 1, yes the original, about a month ago. This thing lasts 4-5 days without recharge, works for me!

Nah, I'm in the 'dumb' phone club too.
- phone calls
- text messages
- occasional photo

Long live the old Nokia

I can get ~14 days with the radios on 24hrs a day.
I can get ~20 days using a scheduler to turn the radios off when I sleep.

This is using the phone ~ 20 mins a day on phone calls, checking gmail 3-4 times a day.
The odd camera use, browser use.

No iPhone comes close.

Yes, I did have to change certain voltages on the phone... but it's not underclocked.

I'm over my 'smartphone', I just think it's a stupid thing to use as a phone & to sms with - so going back to my old Nokia as soon as my contract runs out...

...and then getting a 10" tablet (with wifi only) for the other stuff.

I dont get it, if you have the "ultimate" phone why would you care about iPhones?

Or do you have other problems?

I like my phone, its not going anywhere

No I will never have one. I completely fail to see the point, I have never had a need for the internet in my pocket all day and doubt I ever will.

I find it interesting that we spent years developing standards so everyone can look at everything on the internet on Mac or PC with a handful of different OS and browsers. Everything works on you computer.

Look at Laurie's latest upgrade and all the different posts about some things not working on different phones. Must be a nightmare to try and make a workable site nowadays. Seems a bit dumb to step back to 1987 where nothing was compatible, just so people can spend all day looking at 'stuff'

Back in my day we had no entertainment, we made do with marbles an suchlike.

So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a 10 cents and in those days, 10 cent coins had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Give me five bees for a fifty, you'd say.

Now where were we? Oh yeah: the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones.

You see, back in those days, rich men would ride around in Zeppelins, dropping coins on people, and one day I seen some guy flying by. So I run of the house with a big washtub and... hey! Where are you going? Anyway, about my washtub. I'd just used it that morning to wash my turkey, which in those days was known as a walking-bird.

I was with you on that one Mark and held out till 2 months ago when my waterproof drop proof Samsung phone met the landcruisers tyres. 3years of phone simplicity

The Iphone was just easy - similar to a plug and play toy. Not setup for 3 days trying to work out how to send an sms or deciphering manuals from the cd included with the phone.

Few apps are pretty handy for what I want especially the spektrum app for my toys.

Also a future problem will be when where all left behind and our kids have to flush the toilet for us in 30 years because we could not keep up with technology(cause the toilet has some touch screen used id log feature)
I hate having to learn alot of the computer BS - however some of it does make us more efficient in our daily grind to survive.

What's the secret?
I have the Samsung GT-I9210T and can't get more than 2 days.
I use advanced task killer to turn the apps off.

cell standby voltage is 1/10th the stock ICS 4.0.4 value, and well the 9300 is more energy efficient than the 9200 anyway... and I guess you could also install a custom kernel and follow forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/guide-galaxy-s3-cpu-gpu-overclocking-t1827635

I'm not even updating to Jelly Bean cos I really doubt I'll get the same life.

I can easily go a whole week using the phone normally without charging... but if I play a game or watch a movie it drains quickly.

you're not cheating anyone but yourself, everyone at the pub can tell a smartphone/dumb person answer...
and especially on the late night quiz when the dumb smartphone user isn't clever enough to mask their ponderings whilst waiting for google to load...

FFS it is a PHONE. who cares and what does that even mean?

How sad when all you can think about is getting more than two days out of your phone (charge it every second night, who gives a fk??), and if you can get online anywhere anytime. A bit of time on the PC before and after work is enough for 9000 posts on seabreeze in 5 yrs lol.

Same as all the folk with $20K a.v systems who can't hear the difference - it is just keeping up with the Joneses. I'll stick with a phone and a PC thanks.

This is like a home handman having to have performance hammer - when he uses it one a month.

FFS people - it is phone

not the tools of your trade - a phone.
