But installing "tweeked" android versions from the net has to be done with a HUGE amount of caution.
Remember, if it's free, you are the product, not the consumer.
I've mucked around with a few on these on a wifi only nexus 7 with a firewall on full log mode and a packet sniffer.
There is some weird port communication to some less than desirable IP ranges.
Cyprus (no EU privacy laws and owned by the Russians), Russia and China's geo ranges are high on the hit list.
Only "root" your phone and use "free" tweaked versions if you know exactly what you are doing.
Android apps are a hot bed of malware at the moment. The stock OS and an antivirus do a pretty good job of protecting you, but not if you go it alone.
......But back to iPhones 5s ..... I am worried about how I will get into the fkker when my thumbprint is all munted from a welding/cutting/hammering accident though. They should make it a penis print to unlock it cos it is the only part blokes look after well.
Ha ha, is there an ap for that?
Does it have auto adjustment for changes in ambient temperature?

Apart form stuff like "full log mode and a packet sniffer" which just makes my brain hurt, what I really got out of that is smart phones are just yet another electronic vulnerability we have.
So yep here it comes yet again..... use computers for computin........ Much easier for average people to be safe online.
I wouldn't go Nokia, due to Windows. It's a distant third in phone OS's and apps. Look at all the popular apps it's fruit or android.
I disagree. All the apps I've used on iPhone and Android are on my WP7. It is catching up. I'm not the most sophistcated smartphone user but I have dev unlocked it, fiddled around with coding on it and unauthorized apps, if that means anything.
Current apps I have and are popular:
-Skype
-Viber
-Shazam
-Facebook
-IMDB
-YouTube
Off the top of my head. Plenty more too, what sort of things do you want?
itunes. Avoid it like aids I say. If you are prepared for an app to take over all of your music, and make you pay for stuff and you are technical retard or over 50 perhaps an iphone is ok. I refuse to pay for any content ever. I also want SD card expandability and value for money.
windows is ok if you just want a phone and no extra apps.

Seabreeze, mofo, seabreeze.
/walked right into that one, didn't you.
^^ yeah, yeah. Was waiting for that. It has a browser though.
Live tiles are good. Bit like widgets, at one point there was a prototype of a SB live tile that would give wind speed and direction at your preferred spot. Bet you can't see that on your iPhone icon. It never made it into the marketplace though due to lack of demand.

Aaand that sums up Windows phones/apps in general.
.
Yes, you do have a point, I don't deny that there are much less apps available for Windows Phone. I was contesting it on a technicality - not "all" the popular apps are missing from WP - the ones on my list are pretty popular.
I like that look ^^^ 10x better than iOS7, which to my eye looks like the dog ate the "special edition retro 90's fluoro" crayola box and then vomited on the screen.
However.. live tiles are just widgets made to have a square box and a uniform background - I'd prefer individual shapes, resizability, and transparent background. I mean I can get my widgets to be square and have a blue background, but ... naah.
I did have a windows phone pre-android, and I can't see MS *not* getting there eventually as a player in the phone market, they have the money to throw at the problem, but having made the jump to android I really can't see any attraction to go back to windows phone. Android is USB plug in, drag & drop files, logical naming of folders like "DCIM" for pics, "Downloads" for.. surprise surprise. My point is that it's totally compatible with win 7 (which beats 8 hands down) so it's out-windowed windows. In fact folders are easier to find/access in android than they were on win phone (where they get hidden under /user/desktop/blah/hidey/etc/here/not quite/almost there/yup/now/) And the android phone is *much* easier to configure/tweak etc than my windows phone was.
Edit *** and what's that "internet Explorer" thing there The universally acknowledged use for IE is downloading Chrome or Firefox, right?
Not a chance that's true mate. And if it is Apple would have every right to turn it away and demand processable means of payment.
A phone is a phone and a puter is a puter. Some of each are both.
What is important is "Connectivity".
So which connects best???

The essence of internet...
p.s. agreed. GreenWife is currently working at a Mozilla office, might see if they've got a Win Phone Firefox in the pipeline...
Which is another reason I like the iPhone. Being something that is in my hand probably even more than my dick it's nice to be feeling another quality product. The glass and aluminium are unarguably a better finish. No, I've never dropped it and I don't wear protection (on my phone).
blah blah
every htc phone i have owned is metal and glass . Samsung are plastic but whatever apple fanboi , you keep believing in the dream :)
I have had nothing but joy from my Samsung Galaxy. Not one issue with hardware or software, and all the peripherals work superbly... GPS, camera, video. So easy to transfer content. Music, photos, etc. No fruit for me (I regret buying an Ipad for the kids)
Seems Andriod has a problem. A BIG problem...

Nah, this one is great. As new android version introduce new controls, apps previously installed have these controls disabled by default, so they get additional privs without you knowing. It also allows malware to be injected as part of an update.
Apple recently screwed up their SSL implementation (now fixed). We'll see how long google takes to sort this. Then all the manufacturers will have to patch as well as they don't sanction direct updates from google.
The NSA are probably overjoyed.
Can iPhones have schedulers yet? As in run a service in the background.
I use an App called MacroDroid; which among other things
- switches off the radios at night
- turns down the ringer vol when I connect to work wifi
- turns up vol when connect to home wifi
Last time I checked this wasn't possible with an iPhone, is it now?
Also I get ~ 7 days battery (moderate use) with my Kernel, does an iPhone last that long?
Btw: I think the Galaxy 5 looks totally ****ing crap, but I'm such a sucker for those AMOLED screens.
T
It's not often that I will say im wrong or sorry.....well I am wrong and sorry for ever buying a Apple product add stupid to the list as well. I have never been happier having a android running phone....it lets me make the choice what I want, not a rotten fruit dictating what I need and then bleeding me dry to have it.....
To right, I hate this iPad compared to my old android Samsung tablet. If you got apple shares sell now for they are going down soon with these backward products.
