After 5 or so years of reading and contributing to seabreeze forums, I hate to say it but the quality of posts and the negativity of contributors is getting worse.

When I first joined it was to get assistance into the sport and great advice was forthcoming.

However, lately you have all become worse than the CWA. Whinging, sniping, unsubstantiated rumours and character assassinations.

Get back to the sport mutherfockers, get a smile, get a life and stop being such a bunch of negative ****s.

Some good bantering between old enemies is amusing (waveslave, KH, Kitepower etc) but some of you anonymous noobies are just plain bitches.

Been busting to say this for months!!!

I'm going kiting in 8 knots on my Zephyr now

For sure. There is a minority who are seem to want to focus on the negative.

I've been wondering if it's post Christmas/New years, where everybody has had their holidays, partied out, and now are faced with a year of 9-5 for an ungrateful boss, rather than playing in the sun & ocean?

Having been sidelined with injury, it's been driving me nuts reading guys bag out awesome kitesurfing videos as "not good enough", "not high enough" etc ...

When you site on the beach and watch while everybody kites, it still gives me a massive stoke. I'd rather be out there, but ...

Remember the time you first saw a kite, and the way it all worked was a mystery. The stoke from your first water start .. your first jump.

Forever a newbie...

Yes, the content of the forum has become very diluted, not a lot about kite boarding itself.....most of it is unrelated social, political, environmental, and of course personal stuff. It's not a forum any more where ideas could grow out of, and less and less funny either....
...and so what..?
We might just communicate a little more with fellow kiters on the local beach........while it is 25kn out there with some swells.....not much time or reason to be frustrated...

Don't I know it Dave... I've only been on the Kitesurfing seabreeze website for a few weeks now and I can see some real problems with the persona of some people. I have made two new posts (video's) and I got absolutely caned, took all the fun out of posting.
cheers Marcus

When the positive threads run they are awesome,
When the die hard banter goes off its hilarious (when you can catch on)
But the sledging... well thats just dam entertaining!!!!
Big props to the admin guys its been heady going, youse copped a floggin on the old hookup idea too!!!!

and if ya on the end of a bit of a criticism, get emotional write something back....coz i would much rather hear you cr&p on than listen to my mrs winge..... she is much harder to turn off!!

It did have to be said though, Abuse is uncool, Read the forum guidelines every now and then to remind yourself of the cyber community.

we could start a purely sledging thread but it would not be as good a entertainment as the real thing?
maybe we could pick teams, white hat or black hat as part of your profile, then its your job to attack or defend despite your opinion?
Does this meen I can join in the sledging with out feeling guilty or should i continue bitting my tounge off?

well i am starting to ramble.
Beer any one?

I want your opinion! and I am prepared to troll for it!!!

peace out

Allow me to interpret for Gruezi:

"Spacemonkey, both your spelling and accuracy are lacking. I did not write 'take what is said on hear with a ton of salt', or if I had, I would have written 'take what is red (sic) here with a ton of salt', making brilliant use of a cryptic pun between the deliberately misspelt word "red" and your similarly inaccurate metaphorical reference to salt, while simultaneously creating a arcane subliminal connection to the fine Cabernet Sauvignon I am just now enjoying. However, I didn’t write that either. "Rather, I stated that the existential reality of the cyberspace is oft confused with the virtual reality emanating out of the pseudo-intellectual machinations of opinion that coagulate on that media, as a product of those activities in our existence that constitute our actual being". This has more to do with The BCF "That's not living! - This is living" advertisment than salt. However no offence is taken and I still love you".

No need to thank me Gruezi.

As was mentioned by others at the time Laurie, the rot set in immediately after you introduced the voting thumbs. However I had by then already indicated to you in open posts that selective moderating was not helping.

You may recall Greenpat proudly declared soon after that I was 'most red-thumbed poster by unique IP' (or similar statistic) before he/you finally terminated my Sandgroper login when I became embroiled in a public debate here regards Alex Sanz's total lack of any safety ethic.

Leaving aside the matter of SB having abused my privacy, if not defamed me, by releasing this statistic against my login name, you now have clear evidence from others, and now even an admission from yourself, that the forum tone has degenerated.

I say sow and reap, Laurie.

Laurie.....I am still wondering what happened with the initiatives for creating either a separate forum for beginner's questions and concerns, and answers, or at least a beginner FAQ list to prevent further dilution of this forum....?

hey sandgroper instead of blaming the system why don't you take a look at the posts you've made and see why you manifest such negativity towards youself... It doesn't take a seabreeze forum veteran to catch wind of the smug attitude posts you make about yourself.

Sorry for the attack, maybe I'm still a bit heated after your selfish decision to keep the name of software u used in editing your amateur video. I don't get it?

re. thumbing
...I wonder who is using these thumbs, and what degree they may represent the view of forum members in general....thumbing, let it be any popular (if it is) will not encourage members to express their view....saying that, it is also true that the climate of the forum would not encourage anyone to expose their view especially if it is a bit off the mainstream....and the mainstream is set by...let you decide...

...I don't see this as "a forum", I still see it as "our forum", and in a way "my forum", as there is no alternative forum......so it would be great to get something more out of it...yes, it has potentials...

I don't believe that the "quality of posts" has gone up/down or even sideways.

What I believe is that the "quality of posts" can be a reflection of where your own life is at ... if you're on top of the world, the forums are a great laugh. If you're down on your luck, you can see the forums as a negative place and take the mildest taunt as a personal assault.

It's the nature of reading - most people read a post in the mood they are in, rather than the mood of the poster.

Personally, I here for community, news & fun. Always dissappointing to trawl through rubbish, but sometimes you gotta pick up a lotta rocks to find the gold!

...it may be like that for you....putting up with poor quality blaming your own mood.....as for others quality might just be quality no matter what mood they are in....
....if you as the forum admin feel that the general quality of the forum posts are just fine, and if anyone complains, then it is because of their mood....then let that be....nothing can be done........and I too might be just in a bad mood...

Sigh..

SG has a few valid points I must concede. We have heard it before tho and you are only inviting the same geezers to lay the virtual slipper in old bean.

Yes there are many on this site that are lightning quick to dish the tired old HTFU advice but get their frilly bits twisted very quickly indeed. HTFU is not witty. It is tired, lazy and moronic. And sooo 90s

As Laurie says, remenber when it was all about the stoke of kiting and not living vicariously thru an internerd persona? (sorry to hear about your injury BTW)

For my 2c if the CWA carried on like this some fat ol' country biatch would get smacked with a scone tray real quick. And yes the quality of info and posts has gone into descent.

Pumpkin scone anyone?

I have mentioned this before but I believe the reason seabreeze has become like this is because the average kiter demographic has now changed...........
years ago the bulk of kiters came from similar experience backgrounds as either surfers, sailors, widsurfers etc ...etc.... generally these people were happy, respectful to other water users, relaxed and stoked on the sport and the majority of seabreeze posts reflected these attitudes........

Now that the demographic has changed many new kiters are people coming to the beach for the first time bringing with them an arrogance and competitive aggression ie: bagging vids etc......... that previously didnt exist.

Agree with you (mostly) Harry.

Seabreeze is a good way to get a problem (for an individual or a collective) aired and into a forum environment but it is the lack of respect and hostility all round that reduces the effectiveness of SB.

Fair enough if you think someone's view point is from outta space but what does the leap to "You're a kn @rsehool, d!ck, turkey, w@nker and need to HTFU (insert any other ready made moronic slangs here) !!" achieve? It removes any hope to understand the varied views and just gets down to the level that most of would find unacceptable from a 4yr old.

Use your ability to communicate your view - without abuse - and you may find more folks subscribe to your views. Abuse and you just come off as one of the @rsehool, d!ck, turkey, w@nkers and give justification to folks who wear velcro shoes cause laces are a bit tricky.

A lot of aggression often comes fear. Are some of you SBs actually afraid you may learn something or adjust your publically stated stance from another's view?
