What is the fastest turning light wind kite on the market, cuz my 2010 zephyr starting to give me the sh!ts with its slow turning?

Then again maybe I just gotta deal with size for light wind lol

Ps live in tropics humidity is high so usually get out in 13 to 19gust knots with 2010 zephyr I'm 65 Kg

If the question is "What is the fastest turning light wind kite on the market" that could be the TRX, at 85kg and a 5ft surf board I am going from 10-11 to 19 knots. It is light on the bar, massive wind range easy relaunch and can be kite looped, you may get an extra knot on the zephyr, but you will get a much faster turning easier to relaunch more agile fun kite on the 17m trx. At 65kg on the TRX you should get going from 8-9 to 17 knots on a surfboard or twin tip, or from 6 knots on a race board.

see video below showing the turning speed and re launch, sorry there are no boobs....

^^^Not disputing the kite works and some people obviously enjoy it and like to promote it here. Almost any kite can be relaunched easily if the rider can stand up, which was very obviously the case in that video. Relaunch in light winds in deep water, requires good technique, and an armful of opposite front and rear lines, with some see saw action will get even high AR race kites off the water.
If a 12M kite turned like that, its not a good one, so most 12M kites actually turn a lot better than any brand of 17M kite. Just want to keep things real don't like hyper claims.

I want a 12 that turns like a 17 and has the bar pressure of a 14 and flies through the window like a 10

Pretty much every kite on the planet gets promoted here, nothing new about that.
Relaunch in light winds with any kite is tricky as KP mentioned. All about technique. I have found that the 17 TRX does require extra work when relaunching in light winds, more like trying to relaunch c kites, getting it to roll over on the edge of the window. The Zeph is easier as the curve of the wing lends itself to roll up on the edge of the window. On land the TRX reverse launches SO easy, which is what I do in very low knots.
I love to try new kites, each year is pretty exciting when something I haven't tried comes our way down here. However, I do like to support local when I can, and because I don't sell gear I refer them to my closest shop which is Kp Sydney. I certainly don't have to do that, but I hope that the people I send get good advice on gear.

I haven't ridden any of the others, so can't compare, but I think my Core 17 XR2 can be dialed up to be a quick turning kite (for a big kite)

I have loved it since day 1 and at 92kg, I can ride from 12kts to 20kts..... Great wind range!

I can get going fine on my 13 edge in 12-20, and I'm 94kg's. Have to use my 150cm TT or Kapuna surf board

check out the new flysurfer speed4 lotus. Now that looks like an awesome kite. cant wait to read a few reviews but if its even just a little improvement on the speed3 then is sweet. Nothing comes close to the foils..... fly in next to nothing.

with the race board i can get out in 9-10kts and be cruising along just fine

More like 8-10, but then it is completely obvious, and they are not making any claims other than saying the wind was 8 knots at some stage over the time the video was shot.

Nice video but you won't be doing half the shown moves in 8 knts , you will around 13 knts I especially like the way he jumps then lands at a different location, I know it has excellent hangtime but it ain't that good

What are you referring to Cauncy?? Its all shot at Caloundra, there is no other location. There's some coloration change mainly due to white balance or sun flare or something on the last jump, and I think something similar on the first one too, but Glen Bowden would never try to fake anything, and more importantly, he does not have to.
The wind may have been 8 knots but with the tide running in the opposite direction like it does so often up there that Andy would have had about 13-15 knots of oomph to play with.

what im refering to is when someone watches this video and shells out their hard earned cash they'll be very pissed when they are trying to ride their tt in 8knts, never mind trying to do tricks, also 90% of people that will buy one don't kite a couloundra or are ex world champs, maybe post a video of yourself riding it in 8knts on a tt and show us what your telling us, ive got the new zephyr and I wouldn't bother my arse pumping it up below 13knts for me to ride on a tt

Bit off-topic, but I feel like recounting one of my best big kite experiences....

Took the afternoon off work to chase the forecast 18 knot sea breeze, but it only got to 11. Found that I could ride on my 16m Peter Lynn Foil, but drifted down-wind of course. So walking back upwind in waste-deep water (which I normally wouldn't do, I'd use the beach) I found a $50 note!

The chances of me and that cash coming together were so slim... wind I normally wouldn't bother with, walking upwind in the water, and many kilometers of metro coast to choose from. No one else around within sight, no realistic chance of reuniting the money with its rightful owner so by law, it was mine.

Blind Freddy could see there is a massive tide running. The video is just demonstrating how versatile the Zephyr is, and that it will, just like your one, get you out kiting more often and having fun doing just that.
I think people can work out for themselves if they want one, and I reckon the video is more about the brand, than the model or the guy riding it. It would be more like 99.9% of people don't kite at Caloundra, but there are plenty of people that are fortunate enough to live where there is a tidal effect that adds some power to low wind days.

A video of me mowing the sea grass on Botany Bay, yeah, great idea, and if it did happen you and billions of others would be wanting those minutes of their lives back!! I can ride my 2013 Zephyr in sub 10 knots, with my TT, not like Andy, not at Caloundra, but its a large TT just for light winds which I love to ride in (easier on my creaking body), or on my Airush Sector one design.

Enjoy the video.

I don't see any performance from the kite in that video. I'm not saying the kite flies badly. That's a completely pointless video to highlight how the kite flies.

Well Plummet if that really is what you think then your statement and opinion expressed says a lot more about you than you probably intended.
The video clearly shows how stable the kite is unhooked, slackline
drift and stability, how tightly it turns in kiteloops, its power and easy handling for starters...

I'll admit straight up. I have no interest what so ever in wake style. None. So how a kite performs unhooked, slackline is of no interested to me. But I am interested in turning speed, loop capability and light wind performance. There was no part of that video that showed me any of what I'm interested In. apart from maybe the loop in slowmo..... But then it was in slowmo... so also useless. The light wind riding was, as other has stated, in an estuary with a massive current. So that makes the light wind performance moot.

Again, I'm not bagging the kite. For me that is a completely useless video. But then again most video's kite companies release these days boring as hell. They are either wake style like this or some dude some dude smashing endless lips on a strapless surfboard. There is nothing in between. They usually focus on rider close ups (like this video) and not the kite. Again very useless when someone is trying to decide how a kite performs......

Rant over.

Agreed. If I wanted to kite in sub 12 I'd be on a 19m edge, now that's a ripper of a light wind kite. 12/13 zephyr for me up to 20 knots. But maybe with a race board etc could get lower. I'm not convinced the zephyr is a pure very light wind kite. But it is an extraordinary wing nevertheless.

Well I thought that was quite a good vid of the zephyr and I enjoyed watching it.
I tried the Zephyr and loved it for unhooking, has anybody had a chance to compare it to the Fly, or any there any other big kites that are as good for unhooking?

This is some of the stupidest stuff I've read in a while...
Here's an idea; how about we just make every kite video a video of a regular Joe, filmed zoomed right out so we can see the kite, at an average beach with no rips or tides and with a constant live wind reading on the side of the screen just so everyone can see exactly what it would be like for them to ride the same gear... get the f#ck out.
