Hey all..
I am wondering if its possible to put binding inserts on a pre existing surfboard..
Or do they have to be put in whilst the board is being constructed?
I have a 6'2" (an oldie but a goodie) which I want to use bindings on, and see how they feel.. this is my old board, I dont want to try this on my good boards!!!
Whats the best way to go about it?
Cheers
The main things you'll need to consider are the level of medical insurance you'll need and the amount of sick leave you've accumulated at work.

Hi Howie.
Yes you can put plug inserts into your existing old surfboard. Any shaper who does repairs can do it for you. Mine did it for a six pack of his beer of choice. I bought 4 plugs from a windsurfing supply shop (this was about 4 years ago) that looked like round plastic tubes about the diameter of a 50c piece and maybe 3cm deep. They cost about $2 each. You need to work out where you want the straps to go. They rout a hole then glass them in. You screw self tappers into that. I've forgotten the definition of bindings vs boots vs straps... I assume you just mean a straight strap across your foot? Don't make them too tight. You will want to move your front foot around. Good luck
I bought a groms 5'4 surf board second hand for $50. Drilled holes for those plastic inserts, banged them in, put a layer of glass and resin over the top, and put some straps on from a broken twin tip. Very easy, only took a couple of hours, Cost less then $100, and the board is great. Better than a $2000 new North board.
Hi Ham tool
You talk it up big time. Next time Cloudbreak is over 6 feet I'll give you a few free days to stay on Namotu and show eveyone up. I'll even give you free photos to show all your mates. Tool bag!!

come back and have another crack when your got some furr on your nut sack champ
Yeah Lake Burley's a bit heavy for me. I only competed in Hawaii for 15 years and been surfing these little waves in Fiji for 17 years. At least I have the balls to actually put my name to a post and not hide behind a furry suit and still not even give out your real name. Who's sackless or maybe spineless! Maybe we can meet at Merimbula this year. Much looking forward to a nice debate.
Didnt realize how much fun these forums are./Users/scotty/Desktop/scott by erik aeder5343.jpg

Actually my name is Scott O'connor and I am 50 years old. The resort is 17 years old. Maybe you should spend more time on Lake Burley than at your computer calling BS and things you know nothing about. Just got out for a few barrels which put me in a good mood and this will be my last response as you seem like a complete Hand tool and not worth any more energy but if you make it over for the next big swell I will gladly put you up for a few days and see what your all about.
Hot air I presume LOL
