You can use the red clip on the Dynabar (I do) with Dakine hooks.
the Dakine hooks don't fit so well with the dynabar spreader bar as they are a bit too narrow, well at least mine were when I considered this option
Which bit is narrow? I've got buckles from three different years of Dakine and they all fit fine.
The "red clip" is from Dakine, not Jay, and comes with the harness. They're a tight squeeze but they do work.

Fully aware of all that, but tight fit or not, the Dakine hooks did not fill me with confidence, aware the red clip is part of the their hook system.
It works well with their own spreader bars, but fits poorly with the dynabar which is my original point and is what you are almost trying to say.
On occasion (before dynabar) I often forgot (in a hurry or whatever) to put on the red clip (it is a pain to put on) and the spreader bar inadvertently unhooked on a number of occasions, but didn't end up as bad as OP's story I was still able to fly the kite back and body drag.
At the end of the day gave me a great excuse to get rid of the Dakine harness, especially hearing their spreader bar hooks break.
Sucks to be you then--my **** works great I scavenged clips from older harnesses as the recent bars use the Power Clip on the right and no buckle on the left.
Hi Gazuki,
When I first got my Dyna bar I too had the hook set up the same way as you - until it unexpectantly released mid way through a jibe. It's that twisting action- I was lucky the wind wasn't strong & I caught the chicken loop & was able to throw the safety.
After this I turned the hook around and haven't had a problem since. Just would have been nice to have proper set up instructions from the get go and save the brown stains in the boardies.
