Just do your no wind sport.

Love a fish
Passionate about my cycling and mountain biking
Get on the sup now n then
Going for a spear this weekend to my fave spot
But nothing gets you goin like wind

I just had one of the most epic man weekends of all time. Rode for 7 hours on Saturday and 6 on sunday. Absolutely insane riding. Rode the best I have ever ridden.
Not a kite in sight! I was riding mountain bikes in rotorua. Rode the national downhill track and hit all the big lines, rode all of the most tech tracks in the forrest. Full commitment to every line.

The only thing that comes close to that in kiting is a 30+ knots and 5m swell.

Ahhhh. At the moment mountain biking is giving me more fun than kiting. I have done very little kitting in the last 3 months. A combination of ****ty wind and me not being available when there is wind. The mountain biking has stepped up and filled the gap without any kiting withdrawals.

I am looking forward to those winter storms and monster swell though!

This is the first time I've been on this forum for a few months, i've been lurking on mtbr . mtb has taken over my life from kiting the last 2-3 years. Your absolutely right saying that only epic kiting conditions compare to a normal day on your bike ( trails permitting). But I think the key is variety. Mtb is relatively new to me compared to kiting and come next summer I'm sure I'll be frothing for the summer neasters and some swell, but at the moment I'm loving pinning gravity assisted trails. There really is nothing like it.

Until a tree halts it, I hit up some state trails 2 weeks ago on hard tail and full suspension , back to back, I halved my decent time on the second run, nearly wrote myself off a couple of times on the 3rd run, IMHO it's only a matter of time till you seriously damage yourself, I enjoy the climb as much as the decent,
If in Margs hit up the pines and Carter's tracks
The hairy marron bike shed does a great job on putting you out there

Yes trees hurt! i've had a couple of pretty good stacks that in hindsight probably could have been worse, but hammering through tree lined trails is way more fun than open trails. I think the fear of injury keeps you 100% focused and contributes to the adrenaline rush.

I would love to get to Margs one day for some riding and kiting, but I reckon we are pretty spoilt over on the east coast particularly in the alpine areas. And plummet rotorua is high up on my bucket list!.

Are you using a seat dropper on only the Santa Cruz? What make you got and how reliable is it?

KS lev dropper. I bought it second hand and have rebuilt it once. Yep on the santacruz only. That's my trail bike. so seat up/down all the time. Rig gets seat down all the time and dmr needs a bigger drop from full down to full up than a dropper can provide.

MTB has superseded kite-boarding for me now, it helps that those trails are only 500m away from home. Falling hurts a lot more though, especially if you are doing big gap jumps! I probably spend more time on SUP than a kite board; we have 12 lakes, a world-class white-water river and the ocean 35 minutes away. White-water SUP is challenging but very rewarding.

My latest toy is this thing: onewheel.com The downside is the cost (US$1500) plus shipping (another $300). My justification is that it is cheaper than a good MTB especially since it has a built-in motor. I have only had it for 2 days and I already want to put it in 'extreme' mode and hit some easy MTB trails.

I've kited one a home made one wheel thing (without any electric). It was madness.

My favourite track at Rotorua is Kataore. An insane track with roots bigger than your teachers legs at school.

I'm a bit of a purist Eppo when it comes to longboards. But that looks lush. I can see the advantage in it. Here's my favourite longboard.

Yeh me to, got a nice longboard as well for some downhill stuff. But you'd be surprised how much it feels just like a regular longboard. Carving up and down the coast is something special. Plus I use it to and from work as well. Save the environment and all that sht.

Drones. Bro is getting into to those. Loves em.

April and May put the kites away (kind of ). House renovation/maintenance time.

Hey bud, how's Things Haven't seen you or foz here in a while.

Well around ...1700/1800 new from action sports here Who stock the evolve stuff.

I ended up getting mine for 1200 second hand (well it was only a month old) but I was fully prepared to drive up to action sports and lay down for a new one.

Gotta be one of the best things I've bought to be frank. I use the all terrain tyres down here in cashed up bogan land as we are too retarded to build a decent cycle path network and it's fun running up and down kerbs and paths etc anyway.

25 to 30 odd km range, averaging about 20-25km/hr but can ride at 30-35 if I had a death wish.

Just so good to carve up a hill, then cut the power and just carve down. Kind of get in this flowing zen state of 'carve'.

Anyhow, that's my no Wind thing now, that also serves as a pretty good form of transport to.

I didn't buy from them, nor buy any of my gear from them.

But I know they are the WA retailers for this board If anyone wants to buy new. Same price from them as online from evolve.

No one else sells them in WA.

How about you contribute something useful as you are starting to give me the shTs, keyboard hero. Or keep commenting from your dark place I suppose...

Yep. Did a couple of years on a freeboard. Fun if you have access to steep smooth hills. Not so much fun if you want to cruise on the flat.
My worst skateboard crash is on a freeboard. Caught an edge carving toeside at 50 kph. Instant slap down backwards onto my back. Ouch.

It sure did hurt. Its one of the times a helmet has saved my life. Luckily on that day I was wearing body armour and leather jacket so I walked away with bruises and a stuffed helmet and a bit of whiplash. I wonder how many g's that hit would have been?

Yeah man. those are sweet decks. Particularly sub 30kph. Though I do prefer a powered carve 30-40 kph on the dropped and lowered board.

It was great until I fell off the 10th time. I came home and sold the bike, bought a lighter one and now trying to get my skills up. Lee taught us all a lesson, great to watch.

We're going for an early look to see what the NW looks like. Matts playing footy in the arvo, but it's looking better once it swings SW I think.

what is that homo ****?!!? its not even skateing longboards are for pussys with no skill technic or balls only reason they are popular is because parents stopped letting there kids ride street and hurting themselves so the pumped out scooters and when that didnt work longboards. its an embarrassment. its allmost as embaressing as going from kitesurfing to suping SURE the PROS can do some cool stuff on a sup or a longboard (NONE of which is anywhere near as cool as what a pro skater can do or kiter) but the average supers and longboarders are so ball less its a joke.

Yeh kozz, paragliding pics would be awesome to see...

for me the electric longboard is just for cruisy flow like carves up and down the coast and a cheap form of transport, not trying to prove how big my balls are, no ego trip, not fighting some inner darkness to prove my worth. You need to grow up, realise your true nature and find some peace. Things Change when you are no longer the most important person in the world to yourself, you'll get there mate. Lots to learn it seems.

Dave mate, nah sons footy, daughter at PHM appendix maybe (I know right I texted you at PMH only a month or so ago...kids!!!). Enjoy, but be careful this system has some craziness about it...
