Not so sure why this is posted as they are different sports and require different set of skills, with some overlap of course. But overall I tend to agree, the advanced kitesurfer is yet to match the fluidity and control of an advanced surfer.
But as far as roundhouse cutbacks, I have seen some come pretty damn close.
I do both and can honestly say they are more different than what we try and make out. But a surfer will never do what a kiter can, but I reckon the kiter will continue to bridge the gap.
I love both, as they are so different, different feels, different experience. Nothing like being still, right in the water, taking a wave and using all its power, connected to it. Yet with kiting, nothing like toeing yourself into a huge set, speed, power - exhilarating.
An advanced windsurfer still rides waves better than an advanced kiter in my opinion, especially in big surf. SUPS, well ....they have their place I suppose.

The Roudhouse Cutback: a history
The roundhouse cutback has always been one of my favorite maneuvers in surfing. That may be because I came of age during the 80's, the heyday of the true roundhouse. This display of acrobatics and power began its rise under the direction of pro surfing heroes like Rabbit Bartholemew, Mark Richards, and Shawn Thompson, but to the tune of the Talking Heads and Hoodoo Gurus and in the age of mullets and Reagan, it became the move of choice among the world's top pros.
If you were a surfer after 1979, you marveled at freaks like Richard Cram and Martin Potter who sculpted perfect figure-eights with force and precision. Underground shredder Dave Parmenter dragged his hand and stood firm-footed as he richocheted back into the power section. For me though, it was Tom Curren who set the bar. His slithering slice of rail-burying perfection gave no hint of wasted movement. His roundhouse gave me a tingle inside…Sorry, I hope I'm not freaking you out, but I do love a good cutback.
While the roundhouse seemed to fall out of cool during the 90's and surfers opted to lay back and spin out in one spasmodic motion and thus squandering forward momentum, Kelly Slater, Taylor Knox, and others have, however, carried the torch into today's surfing era of function and flare. Now, the roundhouse cutback is once again planted firmly in surfing's repertoire.

As someone said above, kiting isn't surfing and no, in all but a few, rare wind/swell direction combinations, anything resembling a full surfing roundhouse cutback can't be done on a kite.
Yes, a true roundhouse cutback is awesome, not one where any straight lines destory the figure eight, but one that is done as an initiating turn, and then another bouncing off the foam or right in the slot. Done on a single fin the feeling and drive is incredible. Backside, the second turn is a filthy re entry going back on itself.
Do we need to begin on all the things that can be done on a kite that can't be done on a surfboard?
Skate through the impact zone in 0.3 seconds without paddling once.
Fly over the top of waves instead of losing ground in a duck dive.
Fly.
Line the shore with awestruck spectators. (These days are long gone for 'billabongised' surfing.)
Use a wave as a ramp to boost 30 ft in the sky. (Theoretically, if you could paddle fast enough, however the landing would be hard.)
Make sections that wouldn't be comtemplated on anything else but a jet ski.
Etc, etc, etc, etc.
Is it true you ride a SUP kotp? Each to their own but personally, as I tell my mates that sweep the ocean, what is the difference between a stand up goat boat and a sit down goat boat.
I would love to see you, or anyone do a full figure 8 roundhouse cutback on your SUP and bounce it off the foam, that would be a f#@king awesome sight.
