Camping with the family near Cervantes on the long weekend coming up...looking to get in some kiting. Where are the launch spots? Anything else I need to know?

Make sure you are camping on the north side of town if you are not at the Caravan Park. There is no camping from Lano to Cervantes these days and they are very hot on this on long weekends.
Thirsty point is the pick of the freeride spots. No waves in Cervantes. Head north further for those.

Thanks mate - yep, we got a spot at the Caravan Park. And Thirsty Point sounds ideal.

Just checked Google maps.... Certainly doesnt look like much hope for waves other than outside the islands just off the coast

Anyone kited or windsurfed out there?

You need a bit of local knowledge old son, going through Jurien last season with my two girls, asked the guy at the servo where we could go to use the boogie board, ( thanks again Nick ) the old guy at the servo told us to head to Pt Louise "that's where the surfers go", he said. It's a dirt track off Green Head , I was able to get there in my Getz with two fully growed wimmen in it , so yer, accessible to all !! . There's a bay and the break is just outside it , headin back there this summer for sure, have fun !, J

Surfing and with 2 girls How do you manage that James?

If I mention kiting to the missus I'm normally given a paintbrush, garden implement or the death stare....

Yes it is good but be sure to ask the locals where to go. There is a bit of a kite wave and a windsurf wave, and there are nasty bits you can
hit
Bit later is the season usually, but take a 5m

Thanks for the heads up Mark, there was no wind the day we went there so I did'nt rig a kite and there was no way in hell, that either myself or my girls were going to attempt to paddle way out there on a boogie board, too far and waaaay too big. We just just went for a tour around the area and we discovered some spectacular beaches there. Post card stuff !! Cheers, J

If you want a surf you don't have to paddle the 800m to the windsurfing / kiting wave. Drive out onto the point (gravel road just north of town) and it is an easy walk down the cliff. Will be easy to see where to go.
Basically you surf 200 - 400m north of the windsports area
But not suitable for kids.

^^^ sorry mr redthumbs. You throw your kids off the cliff with their foamies I guess?
Or you are so hardcore you do the 800m paddle instead?

Or is the point of contention some other issue that you can be fckd writing about, easier to just redthumb away?

^^^^^WOW,,,,,,so much anger.
Chill out man,,,no need to get so angry cause you always get lots of red thumbs.
If that was the case,,,Id be suicidal.
And waveslave would have hung himself from his un-used death leash a long time ago.

Maybe time to log off,get outside and not worry about people you dont know giving you thumbs up or down.

Do strangers you dont know really matter ?????????

Life is good

Haha you actually think that I care if people disagree with me? You poor misguided fool.
My point is that it is hard for somebody to sort out the good replies from the bad when those with a vendetta bash away on redthumbs for people they don't like.
Noobs get confused and it puts them off asking stuff on the site.

Of course you'd not understand the concept of trying to help the original poster with his question as you predominantly post p!sstakes and finish every second line with a wink.
I wonder who really does have the sad life.

My Dad and I just came back from there today. It was awesome. It wasn't to strong like it usually is and it was very nice and comfortable. We were the only ones out at thirsty pt but there was another kiter in the bay itself for a little bit. When we were leaving the seabreeze was in at 7 in the morning already.

Why do people travel overseas to kite when we have this here. If only we could combine WA Wind to SE Qld beaches.
What a beautiful location if there's bullets. Nice pic
