So keen to come over! (Parents in Gero)Haven't used the 7m in two years!
Would be great to "feel" a 40 knot southerly again!
Had exchange of emails with Dimitri trying to demo his kites - he said he is considering coming over but next year... sounds like November is no go for epic kites.
Any one got any thoughts on best location for a big air comp in / around Gero?
Back beach could be good, at the south end where there are always kickers and a great spectating location from the road up high above the dunes.
Is it smooth enough for big speed?
Any other suggestions or opinions?
cheers
Hello guys.
Because of the demand on demoing the EPICKITES, I am considering on doing an Epic demo during the "Midwest Windfest". I've been in touch with Mr.Cauncy working on the details.
I plan to come down for 2 weeks in WA and do lots of demos on different kite spots and share my experience with any one who is interested.
So get ready for an Epic time.
Dimitri that is awesome dude. I know plenty of crew that will make the journey just because you will rock up.
Gonna bring ya son?. My son is a season in and would get some real inspiration seeing him rip it up (he was using your junior bar cause at 8 yrs old the short throw on it was perfect).
You will love the consistent power of the thermal wind here!!!
Cauncy has already done quite a bit of behind the scenes work on this and it's looking very promising. The City, State Gov't, KA and others have already expressed interest in either contributing or sponsoring portions of it to make it happen. What a no-brainer!
Just did the Sunset to Coronation downwinder again a few weeks ago. Dream run. Some incredible sections along that 22km stretch. With straight cross-shore winds, it's such a delight riding waves straight down the line. Didn't see another person the entire 18km between Sunset and Oakajee! We could even do it a couple of times over a few days, or for something a little more cruisey, perhaps Greenough Rivermouth to Point Moore like we did year before last. (below)
Good onya Mike,
This is an excellent initiative, one us retailers have been calling for for nearly a decade. Action Sports WA will be bringing all our North and Core kites and boards, Our new line of Delta kite surfboards as well as demo models of our Evolve Electric skateboards and ONE SUP paddleboards. Much to bring along, so stoked. Super jazzed to support you with whatever we can.

Any idea when in Blovember???
To Robbo when i first saw the DW photo of the point Moore run i thought it was Egypt with those huge white dunes........looks bloody unreal.
To DM @ Action Sports.........Delta kiteboards as in Marty's Delta Designs???
Just make it the "Highest jump" wins ...
Not the low handle pass - keep the judging political bullcrap out of it.
We all know what happens if a megaloop terribly goes wrong and how there won't be a second event if it does being Australia..
And, for those with a bit of extra coin to spare who are looking for that extra special adventure, there're other treats in store nearby... And plenty more like these where they came from...
I'm keen to hear from kiter chicks also
possibly some top riders willing to attend
hoping to cover all angles
and make it an event for all
cheers
Perhaps something to entice some newbies/less advanced?
I'm making stuff up as I type here:
* Maybe a session talking about the kiting spots around Gero - tips and hazards for some of the locations
* Sign-up for refresher sessions with instructors (not free of course, but perhaps "encouraging" pricing)
* Maybe a "your first downwinder session" where there are a few instructors/experienced kiters that are looking out for the newbies. Logistically and from a safety perspective this perhaps isn't possible, but maybe this concept could spark another idea from someone else...
Looking at the pics of the wide open beaches, it does look like an awesome place a relative newcomer to the sport (like me) could get some great runs in and technically progress a bit faster (than crowded Perth), all while meeting some new crew and sharing a couple of quiet beers :)
