Cabrinha's new fireball system looks very nice. I haven't seen any other brands introduce this system, but please correct me if I'm wrong. So what do you think, anyone else convinced?

Looks pretty snazzy.

Would be interested to see if if really doesn't pull the spreader bar upwards as much as a traditional harness as shown in the demo or not though.

And whats it like for hooking back in after an unhooked trick?

Good to see some new ideas coming out

Here's another version, I don't like the look of it though

This could be seen as a gimmick
However I believe that this is intelligent ingenuity. I can only see benefits. Cabrinha leading the way in the market.
Except we could do without the gay mission impossible bits of the Ad.

Looks great although you will need the special spreader bar unless it comes with the bar

Sure its not that original some people have closer direct connections using their dynabar and/or removing chicken loop attaching directly to harness etc.

I'd wait and see rather than rush out and buy it, I get plenty of extra movement with a dynabar but could do without the upward pull.

I heard you can retrofit this to a 2015/16 bar and they are still selling the standard chicken loop bars in 2017

It would be interesting to see how secure the ball is after a big stack but it is a really nice idea if it works. Can't wait to see what else is coming for 2017

Good on cabrinha for pushing the boundaries, this might just be the next big revolution in kiteboarding!

I like how there has been a lot of talk and innovation about how to attach the kite to your harness (and even the harness itself) through Dynobar, Ride Engine, shackles, no chicken loops, etc. now this ball attachment. It is giving us more choices and enabling us to select what works best for our riding style.

From here, I actually don't think there will be a "standard attachment" as there has been in the past and there will be more options to choose from.

I'm happy with that!!

Cabrinha have allways had the best presentation videos and most invested in there designs.

I was skeptical about the wear and tear on the new component. But after watching this video its obvious what exactly it is.

Its a bloody universal joint from windsurfing.

Those things will bend and flop around for an eternity without breaking but ive never seen one with the same amount of weight being loaded and unloaded like it will with kitesurfing. But this certaintly isnt neil prydes first UJ so can only assume its fine.

Still not sold on the stopper ball rolling around in that steel hook.

Why have a hook at all they should of made the ball marine grade steel inside a grease box that detaches every time from the bar lines and stays with the harness. With the uj connected. Baby steps I guess.

I did like the displaying of the hook bending up etc pretty valis point.

But none that **** dont matter when your unhooked anyways :-D

I like it! Only thing I don't really like is the shock cord holding the cup in place. Not sure how long that will last. I guess it's no different than the wear on rope sliders that they will need swapping out once or twice a season depending on how much you kite. I think the release system is super clean and easy to reattach and resetting the system in deep water. Great to see some innovation, the chicken loop has long been the least developed aspect of kiting. I wonder how long it will be before all brands move on from the chicken loop?

Firstly, will the unhooking guys use it? Will the ball stay in place without the locking mechanism?

Is there a version for a sliding spreader?

I like innovation and Pryde/Cabrinha have always done good gear.

I have to say I have never come in from a session and wished that my harness hook would not bend up so much.

It's not a windsurfing tendon joint. It's a plastic tube with a length of Amsteel up the middle. You can see the lock stitches in the close up shots.

It's a bit of a commitment to not be able to use my old chicken loop bars anymore. I am due for new kites and bars but the old stuff is refusing to die. I guess I could rig up a shackle attachment for the old bars.

I would want to see the spare parts list to see what it required for replacing that part. If it's simple and clean enough then it would be easy enough to retro-fit the ball onto older style bars in place of the chicken loop.

You'll need to buy two NP spreader bars.

One for the harness, and one for your tether launching hitch.

lol.

lol, you have a point there slave.

People should know how to self launch anyway here in Australia. Its not like most of our beaches are covered in rocks.

Saint Kilda does have a few needles all over the place tho!

Don't punch out without the latch in place, or make sure you have a spare ball in your shorts.

wouldn't the fireball alleviate the need for a sliding spreader bar? after watching the video i cant see why i would need to keep using my slider, it does away with the need IMO

a lot of hate and pro comments on the other forum site. I think is a very good idea. I am a dynabar bar user and love it. I would like to try this new system but I am sure he will sale it for over $1000. There is no way I will pay that kind of money. cheers

Any DYNABAR version you own you can easily have the same feature:
XT you use the U hook locker (or a dyneema shackle) with our without sliding hook.

XW add a dyneema/steel shackle to the 6mm rod in the middle of the frame.

Got a look at the new Ace, FX and possibly switchblade graphics on that vid. Should be able to use old Cab bars with the mushroom release with fireball.

Imagine how confusing the 2017 bar catalogue will be. Recoil or trimlight, adjustable bar or fixed, fireball or chickenloop,

Seriously it's all marketing bollocks,
How many people out there have exhausted their kites potential and performance to warrant turning your focus on how much better you'd perform with this system, yes it's a good idea but is it really that important

Looks like a good innovation from Cabrinha. Also good that they (Pryde?) are continuing to put development money back into the sport.

I've had traditional hook hit me in the ribs in an aborted kite loop/back loop about 10 years ago when i used to jump - and this wouldn't happen with this new design.

If it also had a sliding option - I'd buy it!

What are you saying Jay - add a red ball and you've got the same thing? My one disconnected on the water!

I love the sliding feature of the Dynabar - but, got to say yes - you JAY should do some better marketing videos and some more R & D !

It's real good to see cabrinha getting something new out there and whilst this looks like a big improvement I don't really think this beats the sliding spreader in terms of adding freedom and movement to the harness connection.

What I would like to see is more brands doing a super simple and compact direct connection( basically just a tiny chicken loop) that brings the bar in closer and allows for extended bar throw like the brm cloud setup, this would be particularly good for everyone using sliding spreaders as the sliding spreader usually adds a fair amount to the reach.

Lately I have been using bars with a fairly small chicken loop that connects straight into a ring on my sliding spreader bar, this is the simplest and best system ( for me) that I have come across so far. I think this new can setup is good but I wouldn't change over from what I've got now for it
