Any good with this wind direction. Or do I stay local and use the estuary here. Not sure on this wind direction for some reason.

same question...down south this weekend near augusta but have never kited on this direction. suspect up in dunsborough is the only option. Albany should be fine on a NE, denmark suspect not.

As far as I know most of the South coast is pretty suss when there is any North in the breeze like forecast this weekend.

Although there is a few bays where the beach faces East and it is cross on, the wind has usually come across the land/coastal dunes on other side of the bay and is gusty as.

I think Cheyne Beach (East of Albany) is one of the best options, I have had a couple of kites down there in NEers but I certainly wouldn't be heading all the way down there on the weekend on the off chance it will be ok, I don't trust any breeze with some North in it.

Surely there are some place around Albany, even if it's the harbour?

Yeh have heard this before, and was my guess. Even here winds with north in it, can be fickle. Stay home I think.

Cheers Tightlines...

Yep there probably is I'm always chasing waves so haven't really checked out the harbour, the big hills surrounding may actually funnel the wind in the right location.

Happy hunting that's what makes it fun if you strike gold.

P.S.
Today and yesterday In Perth are examples of why I don't trust Northerlies, although I did get out for a while yesterday it wasn't the session I was hoping for when I saw all those green arrows in the morning.

Eppo - Dunsborough is the go on the NE. It travels a long way across geographe bay so it smooths out a bit. Try Bunkers if there is some swell around, had some ripper sessions there on the NE before.
August no good on the NE - typical offshore - very holy & gusty

Know what you mean by fickle north eateries, seen the change in forecast from yesterday to today. Nothing, except Albany.

Been looking at google earth again... west side of broke inlet looks good for flat water on a NE

4 km fetch, sandy beaches, shallow sandbar to kill the chop

but you'll need a boat to get there.

I'll go if someone else has room on their boat for me ;)

Yes you can, but it's a mission (apparently - haven't been yet). Plus we've had 200mm of rain earlier this week down here, so i don't think so... boat much better.

or just go to Dunners :)

By dunners I am assuming beefarmer means Dunsborough.

Hey Beefy and Eppo I reckon there is enough East in it to get Cheynes firing.
I won't be making the trip but love to hear some feedback if someone does make the effort.

The wind should be coming a bit more from the East (right) than the direction this is looking.

Yep, North is up on this image, so Nor East will be pretty much cross on or cross shore depending how far around the bay you drive and you can go for miles but it does get soft.
Damn I might just have to go for a drive myself.
