Whats the issue? So it opens up handle passes to people who aren't hardcore. So what? Do you really care that much. Do you see anyone claiming them as unhooked handlepasses?

Not everyone is 25 and has shoulders of steel. What about the 40+ year olds who wouldn't mind doing a handle pass without ripping their shoulder out its socket or tear a rotor cuff?

It amazes me how obsessed the "cool" crowd are with what everyone else is doing instead of just worrying about themselves and how much they are enjoying the sport. It seems some people are only in the sport to prove they are superior to others or more hardcore.

Right on the money, Saffer.

Stop comparing the size of your dingle dangles and get on with enjoying yourself.

Personally I think it looks like a laugh, I guess that makes me uncool. Ah well

You guys realise that it isnt some continous ring, you won't be able to spin twice in the same direction. Also you can't properly pop into tricks with the pull coming from your waist, it's all about the recoil which you get from unhooking.

using that for handlepasses is like... saying your a F1 driver wen u race go karts...

why would you want to learn something and not learn it the proper way, by taking out the difficulty of a handle pass it just becomes like a simple boost... no point to it, it doesnt feel good doing **** half arsed.. its like if you going to build your house, will you do it properly or will you half arse it and stick it together with sticky tape?

as for passes they look silly because they are not powered.. passes are all about going in fast and lit up not slow and lofty...

Well, not really. More like trying a new move with a helmet. My cousin was Australian champ barefooter, and quite often he barefooted with training boots. Did this make him any softer? He became the best at what he did. I dont really think it would have long term damage like your extreme example of building a house out of sticky tape.

All sports have some kind of training tool. Another example is fight training, they use 12oz gloves in training with added head and body protection. Does this make them any weaker? Prolonging the time you are able to train in a sport without hurting yourself is actually like laying a proper foundation, rather then thrashing the engine at warmup.

I am living proof of pushing the envelope all the time. I can now never do freestyle again because of one stupid accident.

Just have fun, use any tool that comes your way to aid in this ultimate goal. =

Yeh it's just like freestyle motocross - they practice new tricks by jumping into foam pits.

In the good old core days they just broke their necks when the trick didn't work

Isn't that like "core" wakeboarders learning to handlepass on a trampoline? Most wakeboarding training camps teach you on a tramp. Its about muscle memory.

Just for the record, care to name a f1 driver that hasn't started their racing in karts?

Its a progression thing.

Isn't water already soft enough?

Nah the waters hard - I'm soft.

But my point is really that FMX has progressed heaps since they got professional about their training and developed things like foam pits to practice new tricks with.

Heaps of other sports use training tools. I just don't think there's anything wrong with that

totally agree with saffer. Great training aid. Nothing is more uncool than nursing a blown out shoulder when the wind is cranking.
Pretty rich when snapper kiteboarders bag each other for things being too easy when kiteboarding is so easy. If you want to get hardcore get a pole hit the waves.

yes thats differnt though.. they just get muscle memory then charge out again into normal wake.. they dont have a softer wake to maek **** easier etc..
and using a trampoline isnt really participating in the sport itself, you can learn HPS on a tramp for kiting too.

and watch that video and suggest how those movements are the same as a HP without the ring... movements are completely different, different axis of rotation position of bar in pass etc. and the video isnt even doing passes hes just twirling like a fairy.

as for the F1 remark.. i didnt say f1 didnt start there im saying its like a GO KART DRIVER claiming to be an F1 driver... when he is not because hes driving a go kart not a F1 car... it is the same as claiming to do a handle pass with these little "kiting trainer wheels" on... u cant claim the pass when its not done properly just as you cant claim ur f1 when ur a sunday cart driver.. simple comparisons.

IMO its just silly and dangerous.. mechanical parts plus sea water = danger because of moving parts being able to seaze up and jam etc. not being able to hit the QR when **** goes wrong and if u had hard impact against a solid item that ring could do some damage to your back.
