No i wasn't using a leash, unfortunatly the scare isn't that bad,
But i still have the memory of feeling like i was surrounded in a night club, I come up swinging after that hit to the head. The hardest thing was seeing were i was heading while limping back to the beach. The other thing i was worried about were the sharks, they are everywhere in the cocos lagoon.
There are some other pics floating around that look even better than this one.
I recon there should be prizes for photos like this, I realy went to a lot of effort to look like that.

Funny how no one takes pics of me kiting, only ones of me injured.
I think there are some pics of me on the operating table being stitched up as well.
That was the best holiday i've had to date

If one of those little black tips didn't go for me last monday after a botched kite loop and it getting trapped in my lines or the other one that I landed on and started circling my behind when I was in the water there not going to go for you. Plus there's way too much for them to eat in the lagoon that's smaller than them that they probably didn't want to tangle with you.

Now on the other hand those "other" sharks that like to eat turtles (and there a ton of turtles in the Lagoon too) those might have a crack at ya.

Doing a standard frontie in bigish swell. I usually finish it off with a downloop to get forward speed however this caused me to land hard and fast on the face of a peaking wave. Snapped both the tibia and fibula in one leg and torn the medial ligament in my right knee on the other.

I had to hold it to stop it flopping around, and every time a wave came I needed to let go to swim and my foot kept kicking my knee. I seriously still think of the sound it made when the bone grated on bone. It was actually a pretty crazy ordeal getting back in and it took ages. Some old lady came to help as I dragged myself onto the bank, but she nearly vomited and had to go get bigger help. Didnt go through the leg but it did cause pretty bad internal bleeding aka compartment syndrome. The surgeon thought my leg needed to be amputated as the muscle had already turned brown from the lack of blood. When they turn brown there dead.

He cut the calf in half from top to bottom and pulled each half out the sides of two big cuts down the sides of my leg (just like you do a chicken breast). He rapped it up in gause and let it sit for a week.

You could seriously smell rotting meat coming from the wound, it was freaking disguisting... He put it back in and it revitalised and came back together.
So to answer your question, yes I can kite again (I ride like a cooc now though
) but unfotunately I am unable to run, skip, or jump yet... Once they take the rod out maybe but until then no chance.

The black spot is where the two breaks are... the scars near the knee and ankle are from where they force the rod down the centre of the bone and screw it in. Pretty amazing when you think about it.

That is totally amazing and gross, not surprising that the lady who came to help almost vomited.

I knew there was a reason that I'm a total wuss and don't really try to push the limits very much....

Thanks mate... you get many stitches on ya head, I grin when I look at the smile on your face in those photos? They should show pictures like this at the kitesurfing shops like they show the warning labels on cigarette packets.

If your talking about the guy that got split on the front of a windsurfer and had his insides floating in his wetty, we don't need pictures. He wins, heard the story all I could do was cringe

No picks of Hally and his de-nackering, but you got to hand it to him. I swear he was back on the water within 6 weeks. He's got balls of steel.
