- think about it - you had to come in for a landing at some stage.

that was when hitting the (now magical) 50 foot height was when you just started slowing down the ride up.
I recall a day when VB MAN upwinded across to my learning beach at Melville from Peli Pt.
Came at me cutting upwind at a terrifying rate of knots.
Pulled the trigger & waved to me as he sailed a good 1/2 a line length above my canopy. 
Then landed it - with another wave backwards at me - at least 4 line lengths downwind of me and still way out in front.
Crowd wowing days.
I guess I will explain it for you guys .... It has nothing to do with the kite having no depower.... And thus remaining powered ....Because even without depower you still had to be hooked in.
The joke was about doing the deadman UNHOOKED with hands on head
I believe the joke about being unhooked relates to the fact he has both hands on his head if he is unhooked what's holding him ......Chicken dick was a clue but Donkey Dick would probably more plausible.

You apparently missed the little joke and posted " actually i am hooked " ( no $h1t ) and then went on about your little max power setup like you invented it ( most kites back in the day had this option mine had a sliding stopper that would lock the bar down at full power others had second hooks or loops on the bar )
