It was friggin freezing here in Vic today and yes a wetsuit can make kiting bearable but Kenhell - Tassie in winter ??

Walk 800m to pubs or restaurants in the main st for food and refreshments ? or use fridge and camp area and cook your own. I can arrange (camping gear hire - basically just a deposit so if its broken i get it replaced). Great bunch of locals there who are generally happy people (provided you are one of us that were taught common sense and manners naturally). Are there better places to kite? At times sure... Cheaper? Its easier if you get a few people and hire a car, you can then check out Alva and get around easier. Mouth of the Don is great.
Disclaimer; My parents have owned the Caravan Park for near on 20 years and now manage it again themselves. I go up there just about every year.

Here's another vote for Archer Point just south of Cooktown. Queenslands best wind and even decent wind generated surf just inside the rocky point. 25 knots of wind and free camping, no crowds. Gotta love the crocks and they do hang out just inside the river mouth near the smoothest piece of flat water on the east coast.
I'd love to go back. You do have to bring everything with you as there is no services there. No water, no electricity, no toilets (or there wasn't last time I was there). Lovely grassy camping area. Very reliable wind.
