I liked the video, and seeing how high aspect ratio and how flat the shape of this kite is, I am not surprised to see the 14m working well in 9-10 knots, especially if there is some tidal effect going against the wind. Would be interesting to compare it side by side with a Flysurfer Speed2 15m...

I think they look kooky. Not getting under my skin, thay are making you look seriously uncool tho-

PS anyone who wants can come and see me to demo my new watercraft that goes in no wind at all, it's called a rowboat and is almost as extreme as the kiting in the photos above.

oh no they might look "uncool" and "kooky" by going out on these kites in light wind..... who cares if u look uncool u are still kiting aren't you?[}:)]

finaly someone who appreciates the fact were kiting and not waiting for the next strong seabreeze to come in.
also the guys in the vid are 50+ and 60+ years old and are some of the few that have made the transition from many years of windsurfing, to kitesurfing. if anything they deserve to be congratulated on their determination to stay on the water. one of them actually has been over 43 knots (speed) on the hydra 12 in that same spot.
there should be more guys out there that dont care how they look or what they ride, as long as they are out there and kiting.
tommy69r it seems that you have missed the point of kiting. do you look kool dude?

try putin ur wind meter 15 meters up at kite height and i guarantee it will read at least 13-14.

Hey ewan kite,
So when we post a high wind vid, you will guarantee to add 3-4 knots to the wind meter speed, won't you?... to allow for kite height.

PS. tommy69 . I don't give a rats about how uncool you think I look. Iv'e out grown all that crap...... Maybe it's time you grew up a bit too!!!

Hey ewan kite,
So when we post a high wind vid, you will be guaranteed to add 3-4 knots to the wind meter speed, won't you?... to allow for kite height.

Or maybe not to measure the wind in an area that has a wind shadow.

Saffer,
So where is the wind shadow in the 10 knt vid? Please enlighten us!

Hey Jacques, thanks for the positive comments dude. Yeah Iam not real sure how they would compare , I reckon the flysurfer may have a little bit better low end but the top end of the hydra would blitz it.

Jacques,
Good to hear you liked the video and undestand what is happening. I did read in another forum where a Hydra 14 was compared to a 15m Flysurfer (not sure which model). The F/surfer had a slight edge on the Hydra in <10 knt wind. The Hydra's main feature is it's incredible top end.

I honestly dont know if he's taking the piss or not. Sad part is, he's serious!!

Alex you nutter!! So if your mate is legally blind, that would mean he was about 0.25% BAL (blood alcohol limit).

Mate, How legally blind were you when that video was shot
