Andre you are such a sht stirrer, love it. Can't wait on your review testing the ozone wing to drive everyone mad.
Well I'm no ozone fan boy that's for sure, and I've ridden the nexus and the reos.
But to be honest I've kind of had enough of this to be frank.... time to say what I really think.
There is no way the nexus is as good a wave kite as the REO, neo, RRd, drifter etc etc ... It just can't be design wise. There is no such thing as an all rounder that can be better than a kite built specifically for one discipline. It just doesn't exist. You see this more clearly when you get to ride all the kites of one brand across the spectrum.
Ours was through north kites of course. On any day we were using everything from neos, dices, evos through to the rebel.... you clearly then can see what is sacrificed to optimise a certain trait for the particular discipline.
Someone has to say it. Enough of this fairy land, wizard of Oz, magical kite crap.
So enough of this Bullsh1t please...
Or at the very least readers, don't buy a nexus on this content. Make sure you check it out yourself because for what it's worth I feel a lot of observations here are full of horse Sh1t and reek (although subtlety disguised) of vested interest.
Soz just had to be blunt. My BS meter just broke.
Fairy Muff..so you have ridden the nexus ? Thats cool . I have put foward my honest OPINION with as much objectivity as possible. I literally was in a position where I wanted to choose my next WAVE kite and decided to demo those kites back to back. Like my review said I thought i would poo poo the nexus being the all rounder...but it actually was my favourite after back to back testing. BUT my fave doesnt mean thats for everyone. And actually the Nexus was the most expensive of the bunch to buy..maybe take your pills before you start calling me out as B****ter. If you dont like my reviews thats fine...I was just having fun in my last post...dont make it un fun
Yes the ozone riders are feircly loyal (wee bit sensitive could be a height thing (Steve) and for good reason it's been one of the best kites for a long time. my take on it was in specific conditions to my weight I would need to go up a size or compared to Neo/nexus/sst but these are all grunty kites. If I lived in Gero or Cape Town it would be my pick for high wind. Or if I was in the 55-80kg bracket I would like how light and fast it is. Having a few more beef burgers ?? under my belt I have always liked kites with low end grunt. The V3 V4 had more power. But put it into context no one has said it's a bad kite. So suck it up Ozone princesses #Steve lol)
I would also suggest try a few kites out and try to be objective it's healthy for your riding.
Hi Andre
Many people are brand loyal across all sorts of things, so what? I'd say most of the aggro on here towards Ozone comes from people who are not being honest about their relationship to their favourite brand or they are posting completely anonymously, with the mission to discredit any brand thats not "theirs". This crap has been going on here for years, decades even.
As for me I've always been this height since I was 15 or so, I'm pretty used to it and completely happy with my height too, and at least I don't take up as much space as some of you FC's or TC's!
The story of the Reo being underpowered goes back to the very first versions, they were physically smaller than most other kites on the market, so when a 2012 Reo said 8m on the side of the kite it was actually more like a 7m compared to other wave kites.
But from V2 onwards, Ozone made them physically bigger and comparable in size to most other kites, since V3 they are physically very similar in size and power to all other wave kites on the market.
Remember I ride Reo's all the time and have been on them since the very first ones, and I've ridden many other brands of wave kites too, especially SS Core, LF (and best when they were around )and Cab because my shop sells them.
The fact is that the Reo V3/V4/V5 are virtually identical in canopy size and there is no power difference to speak of, between the V3/V4 and the V5.
Hi Steve, love you mate xx. The V3 and V4 def were more grunty (i Thought) I did spend a whole season on the V3s...the V5 isnt underpowered..it isnt as grunty as the others tested..I dont think anyone is agro at anything...just poking the bear mate. At the end of the day the REO rated highest in my humble but arrogant opinion.

Just had our local spot going off it's tits today, massive bowling lefts on a Reo 8m. Felt like it had the power of an 8m for some reason.
Man there were some amazing windsurf wave sailors cranking their stuff. I appreciate the skill the good riders have.
AndreC we all appreciate your reviews including myself but those in the know, know that you a vested interest, so stop the BS mate. Some of us have been around the block a bit fella...
the design characterisics of the nexus cannot make it a superior wave kite. It's physics. But yes different riders different people but I won't sit around and allow BS over its superior wave riding abilities. That's just complete crap so let's get that straight.

Wait a minute, don't you have a deal with this shop so that your boy is getting gear on a discount, which funnily enough happens to be ozone gear and you ride reos aswell now! Talking about vested interested, saying you are not a fan or whatever seems to me if you have to state something so clearly, it is 99% BS so why don't you take a good look into the mirror. Andre was making good fun and actually angried the biggest hypocrite of them all.
They might've only changed the bridle system but there is another really good review platform coming to the same result as andre, not as good in the low wind range as the V4!
Sorry my BS meter just broke, can't get mad at me now

Hi Andre
I was not referring to you personally or in particular when I commented about the general aggro on here between brand loyalists. I think all the regulars here have come to accept it (although its pretty obvious and boring to wade through).
As for the V3 being more grunty than the V5, I just totally disagree. The V5 12M for example has at least a couple of knots better bottom end because you can work it so easily, Why? Because it turns quicker and with more power. This characteristic goes right across the range of sizes in V5 too, the kite has better bottom end with similar top end and with more stability in the upper wind range, especially the smaller sizes.
The onshore bridle makes it drift so well on onshore conditions that it actually improves a good riders riding, they can make sections now they would have been burned on. The offshore setting helps the kite sit more forward in the window which is perfect for offshore conditions.
Well I'm no ozone fan boy that's for sure, and I've ridden the nexus and the reos.

You just remind me of why I havnt been on this forum in years...I prefer to have my robust conversations in person. WAIT let me guess...You are the know it all...like the CIA/ORACLE of seabreeze ...got to tell everyone who gets on here what you think...especially if they are newer to the sport you have to let them know that you are the authority on everything kiting and how they are doing it wrong. So why don't you break out the way back when we had 2 line kite conversation so everyone can go WOW...Its so tiring mate. Yes allot of people know me because what you see what you get..thats why I am happy for my name to be on here. My reputation isnt great...I usually pass out at parties early, I have a prank which involves pissing in someones kite pump but I havnt found anyone I dislike that much yet...Applications are open.
Andre a lot of us older forum posters stopped because of the negativity. I've started re-posting as i'd like to see this forum as it was intended a place for kiters to help each other out with advice and a bit of friendly banter. I appreciate the time you've taken to test and post your reviews on a few kites. Reviews are a personal opinion and we are all entitled to them. Attacking someone online because you dont agree with their review is not cool. But that's my opinion, i'm sure some of you think it's open slather to make yourselves feel/look superior online by rubbishing someones else's opinion.

Oh trust me, you actually don't want him to answer that :D
Look maybe I did get a bit personal. I apologise for that AndreC. My bad. As I said I did appreciate your reviews on the different kites.
So back to the kites themselves. I just can't see how an all rounder with XR and GTS DNA can stack up against a dedicated wave kite. From my fly on it plus my brothers confirm this.
The reos I fly are purely for foil riding (and a bit of wave riding as well) as all the all rounders I tried just didn't drift enough. They are just cheap 2014s imo.
Look maybe I did get a bit personal. I apologise for that AndreC. My bad. As I said I did appreciate your reviews on the different kites.
Oh well if ya can't beat em
And boy did we get smashed by the ozone pimp brigade... it actually got quite personal.
I have a few current reos and mainly use my 8 edge for foiling at the moment and prefer the edge over the reo at this stage for foiling.
So guess it all comes down to ability ,style and individual preference to what works best for you...

Depends what you do on the foil. Freestyle and down winding the Reo is great.
Not sure what drugs people are on thinking the the V5 has less power. Using the the onshore setting my 105kg gets around on a 9m quite well compared to the the V4 10m I had last year. Horses for courses enjoy what you have. The Reo is great for this:
Not sure how much drift you really need for foiling????
What hilly said +1.

Riding waves you need as much as possible.... going in straight lines ... well I'd rather a foil kite if I had the choice.
