Better grip on the rear by moving the sails ce foward? Center sheeting causing less hiking/sliding due to boom angled (self depowering) not being as centered on the fuselage?
Not sure why, but the yacht feels much better balanced, more or less set up similar to my class5. Last sailing day I lent it to a club member to sail in the class5 races and it was very completive with the fives. It is a lot faster now than any of the minis that I have sailed with. Before the changes it was very average.

I think it is ballast Ben, They appear to be able to sit a lot further back than we do in our yachts, I tried moving back further on my 5 and it became uncontrollable in the corners. Had to add weight to the front to get some control. (I think Paul had the same problem)

Hi Mick, I left the wing mini with crazy trav, He is now the keeper of the yacht. It was a fun build but I moved on to building a class3.

yes ,but cleaning up the airflow over the wheels whilst projecting the chassis frames up higher does seem to be a mixed outcome.

keep in mind that a blinged blowy is around 29kg, my own mini gets a whopping35kg.
i think this would be in the low to mid 30's if its got a carbon mast.
the axle length should be perfect for clay,added to the stiff spine(looks like 2 square tubes wlded together).
very light at the front as those kite buggy wheels are rather light. the wheel covers will barely pick up any stuff, unless you get a light rain
Like the Micro Race the spine is shurely single piece, its just the seam showing.
Don't forget to count in the painting, at least 350gramms!!!

Well the frontfork and the bolt-on for the axles look like a MicroRace-relative. My MR is stainless steel.
And with reinforced axles and seat and rigg at least 47 ++ kilos.
I think the green froggy design suits good but imagine an all Chrom/silver rocket style!!!!!

Would like to see a side photo as it seems to have mast well forward with little mast rake, body weight well forward too, straight axle with little or zero wheel camber. All that is very similar to what Chook is finding with his experimenting.
The axle is wood so when under load it flexes putting in a little camber. The rig should of been a few inches further forward.

I'm about to launch into building an I 5.6 mini for the Worlds. and need to get some basic dimensions to get started. The mast step question looks like it has a large number of functional answers...I'm looking for basic track and wheelbase numbers that work.
I have a huge pile of shrapnel to start with:
*A complete metal axle Ludic.
*A NZ rocket body/seat.
*An abandoned fed 5-style steel and aluminum frame project, Y under style.
*A carbon mast
*2 sails 4.0 and 5.0 (probably the 5.5 from my Fed-Rocket class 5 boat).
The easiest would be just put the mast and sails on the Ludic and figure out a way to stiffen the seat so the whole thing doesn't twist out of shape when the sail loads but I think it would perform better if it was a bit longer.
