Not that it has anything to do with the Sandgropers season, just giving them a plug
Mini mania, REALLY looking forward to those dates.
The Sandgropers had a stall at the recent Baldivis fair a week ago, hopefully some newcomers will come join the fun
Change to program.
The WA Titles for Class 5 and Minis will now be held in September at Lake Lefroy instead of Mar 2/3 at Lake Walyungup.
It was agreed some time ago and is in the interest of land sailing in WA that we would alternate on a yearly basis between the 2 venues which is great for the 2 clubs.
Amendment to calendar, fund raiser is December the 8th meaning the first event is the 15th. My bad, apologies for the faux pas.
4 days to go, So looking forward to it. I will give the class3 a run and see what damage I can do.
Looking forward to catching up with everyone . Wind forecast moderate.
The clean up day ended up a great day with people bogging in to get the site ready for the racing season. It was a very hot day but most stayed around for a sail after crib and a few drinks. My class3 went well with most of the members having a sail in it.
Roll around the first racing round.
This Sunday was scheduled as a support event for Dreamfit however they are unable to make it on this occasion. Still having the open day for the public and a good opportunity to get a bit of development time with the minis. All welcome to come and shake off the cobwebs.
Gday fellas, I think I will be in SB for the day on the 12th Jan, do i bring mini to race ? also lugging schooner, but should also have the 5

If you bring a mini that should make 7 on the start line
Looking forward to you Lefroy Boys sailing with us.
The class5 season got of to a cracking start, The wind remained strong all day and gave a few of us some hairy moments. We completed all 8 races with the yachts that survived the day. There were 16 yachts on the line for the first race.
One of the funniest things when one of the sailors (Phil) was pulling his yacht back to the pit's when it got away from him and started is own race with a start car and the pilot running in hot pursuit after it. Dam thing was to fast for them and ended up 10m into the water and mud on the south side of the lake.

Vid from aus230 race one.
That looked great from the downloaded vidio, huge runs down wind The side drag to get around the start mark on the first lap was a cracker
What was that bloody scratching noise, like a kids peged flapper on spokes of his treadly. Whould have been a pain in the coit to listen too for the race. ?
It is annoying its coming from the left hand bearing(will be changing it) You are right the top corner was a heart stopper a couple of times
Great day. Fabulous fun handicap event today with 11 yachts, 12 if you count the coach circulating in his class 5 assisting the newbies. 8 races were run with a barbeque social afterwards then everybody drifting off home around sundown.
The participants enjoyed a steady 15 knot south/south wester, although it did not arrive until 1pm. A bit different to the 25knots the blokarters had yesterday, although they enjoyed the opportunity to get their 3m sails out.
Looking forward to a good turnout for the Class 5 Club Championship event next week. Word has it there could be a couple of visitors bringing yachts to join in the fun.
Arrrrgh, we be bringin a gaff schoonner and 2 mini yachts. I hear a rumour that somebody was shopping for 12" fronties for a blowy for this weekend at the waly too
we should be there with knobs on lads
The first round of the club championship was held 12.1.2014. It was a hot day(39degree c) with steady winds. It was the first day that the mini yachts and class5 were on the same program. 6 races were completed for class5 and 5 for the mini class. The fields were down a bit in class5 due to the intense heat so the beaches may have been a good alternative for some sailors. It was great to see 2 Lake Lefroy sailors competing
Some pics . I will post results tomorrow.
Great handicap day on Sunday with good wind and a great course which delivered good speeds. The sea breeze didn't eventuate but fun was had with the easterly with the start line relocated near the end of the car park.

Great day. Fabulous fun handicap event today with 10 yachts, plus the coach circulating in his class 5 assisting the newbies (and a few of the not so newbies). Got 8 races in and with a barbeque social afterwards a great day was enjoyed by all.
First chance that I have had since the last class5 event on the 29th Feb.(date on score sheet is not correct)
Due to unforseen circumstance the day was limited to three races of which the first was cancelled due to lack of wind.

Last Sunday was a class5 championship day and the annual Perpetual Memorial trophy in tribute to Land Sailors Past.
It was a cracker of a day with moderate winds that held all day
16 class5 yachts faced to start line and some great racing was had, It was the first time that handicapping was tried in this division and I for one thought it was a great success. All 8 races where completed.
5 mimi yacht raced on the day and completed 6 races. finished of the day with a barbi and a couple of coldies .

Yeah yeah I know I was supposed to post stuff but have been engaged in that nasty pastime called work.
16 starters on Sunday, not a bad turnout. (My yacht was behind the car, laid over for the pic)
Heading in after the last race
Courses. Blue line is the mini track - minis took a bit of a back seat because of the Class 5 trophy day but a good day had regardless
