I think I lot tri sails on racing yachts can only be hoisted in sheltered waters
The latest southern spar masts require someone to be hoisted 2 - 3 metres of the deck to feed the tri sail through a gate above the mainsail stack- not something that would be fun in 50knots and big seas.

HI All,
Quick video of our first outing! I'm over the moon, aside from a slight hum from the rudders when the windward one is still in the water (toe-in), everything worked really well. Some basic number:
We were carrying the kite up to 120T, down to 150, gennaker from 90-120.
Pointing we got up as far as 38deg T at 7kn in 20kn T with the main backwinding for half its cord length, but it was comfortable, a way of soaking up the puffs without reefing. Not much good for VMG, crack off and the speed climbs to 8 , but I should be looking at the first reef at 18 knots.
Light air, in 7 knots we were doing 6's, the instrument showed matching wind speed, but there is half a knot offset (needs cal)
POB of 8.....summary, chuffed to bits.

Negatives: Parking! The boat is actually really good, its the helmsman, need more time on the boat.

With a big transom like that sure to fit a big esky or a bait box , even a game boat chair mind you the stern wake looked a bit iffy from the leward rudder .
Who's steering ????? or are the foils Balanced ? using auto helm already !!!!!!

Many years ago when i was on white boats we used a syringe full of Gin instead of clubing the fish a bit of gin to the Head stuns them dead no bleeding !!!

Shouldnt worry about your upwind speed yet ,this time next year you will be up a knot !!!!!!
If you are going to use your 4 th reef as staysail i think it is no no !!! also have to paint it orange

On a serious note thanks for sharing the creation of an idea buying a yacht from overseas to going for a sail ,somthing many of us have dreamed but none done .
Through your exploits/blog i am sure there will be a few more Pogos down under.
Good luck
sail safe

Well done Shaggy. She is quite a handful of boat and you will have a steep learning curve ahead of you.

Lovely conditions for a maiden voyage.

8 and a bit POB?
don't tell me your moved onto the next project already and there's another delivery we have to wait for in 9 months?

(maybe if that's the case you'd better hold off on the next delivery vids!)

thanks for the ride, I think all SB's got to experience the birth of a new boat courtesy of your effort to share with us.

Hi guys,
Thought I'd try and upload day 2 test sail!
We're improving our trim and the boat speed reflects that, today we were only two up with a fairly inexperienced no 2, who did really well. We were experimenting with traveller and sheet, but elected to stay with the normal headsail and a full main. I need to work on the barber hauler trim, this is a bit hit and miss, I haven't got the hang of them yet.

Hi Selkie,
Sent you a reply mate, sorry for the delay.

We had our first grounding on Sunday, I had my co-owner on the boat for only the second time, and we were having such a great time we overextended a gybe down to the southern side of the Hybers light of Wello point. I looked at the chart, we were getting way too close to the shoal water line, and recommended we gybe back out. By the time we prepped for the gybe, we were aground.
Thank god for the lift keel, we furled the headsail, lifted the keel, reversed back and were off again!
It is a fact of life that running aground goes hand in hand with sailing in Moreton Bay, but is is not something I want to do a lot!

Thinking about following the fleet round for Wags this week, any Seabreezers that are free you are welcome to come out.
Regards,
SB
