Looking at it now who would have thought ....... Thankfully it was only three boats this time.
We lost one 60 foot yacht at Laurieton. Drama actually started on Thursday when the owner found a hole in the hull while renovating [grinding rust I think].
It was only 2" x 1" and after deciding that the bilge pump wasn't handling it dropped his mooring [in 3m] and motored upstream for shallower water
with the idea of putting her aground. Ran out of motor [underwater?] opposite the Sea Rescue who launched their boat for the quickest ever trip to help
someone in trouble. They manage to get him onto the old council wharf [read not maintained] near Sea Rescue. At that stage he was still afloat.
That night she settled on the bottom bow down and with the stern afloat.
RMS were now involved and promises were made to float her after the storm.
Today at low tide she has, through the actions of the flood water scowing out beneath her and settled another metre.
RMS has given him a week to get afloat off the wharf. He has to patch the hole repair the motor and sail to Foster down the coast to affect repairs as the local slip is too small for her. He has no insurance as its a steel vessel over 40 years old.

I am ok and my heart goes out for those less fortunate like this guy up river bobbing upside down. 
I think it is a motoroboat.
We are swimming in Cacao Harbour. 
big day at the mersey yacht club the marina broke loose about 4.30 this arvo sending about 20 boats crashing into each other absolute carnage miss eve a 60 ft timber launch killed everthing in its way wow cant believe the marina is gone my boat cry havoc was on the courtesy berth and all the carnage just missed her until the cruiser behind her filled with water and she mounted my boat while sinking and drifting down the river.
cry havoc was still afloat when i last saw her go out the river mouth dont know the extent of the damage to her but have a good clue its extensive will be up at first light to see if i can find her.

Really sorry to hear. I have often looked at those boats when visiting Devonport as it looks like a nice place to sail and a well loved bunch of boats. I am sure you will find your boat. Good luck.
The vid of the Mersey marina breaking away is gut wrenching. I watched the same thing happen here in Bundaberg 2013.
I hope everybody is safe and I wish you all luck in getting your boats back.

We have been lucky down here at the bottom of Tassie with just a little bit of wind and rain
The footage of the marina washing away in Devonport was shocking & my thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have been affected in Tassie and on the mainland

Terrible for the guys and gals @ Mersey, lovely bunch at that club.
My understanding is that it was the massive logs coming down the river that did the damage, took a 40ft power boat and mooring out to sea too.
Here on The Tamar River we have had the biggest flood in 100 years, thank god they built flood levee's recently, otherwise my work would be 10ft under water.
My dad took his boat down the river last night, before the trevallyn Dam spilled over. it's now 3m above the dam, was rising at 1m per hour yesterday!!!

Congrats AUS on rescuing her, that's the best news to come out of this weather event yet!
great news. a big event for sure. i went for a drive to greenwell point today. saw that boat ramona on her side on the mud flats. big current, waters high. Is that the boat you meant with the alado?

Too early for me but I'll have a beer later. Very happy for you. Love to hear the story when you have time.
I'm shocked. I guess at the end of the day boats can be replaced . Has anyone been hurt ?
