Last Sunday I requested Cisco post a few Van Morrison clips featuring "Baby Don't Go".
Tonight listening to Canned Heat " going Down the country" not cause water tastes like wine but wine tastes good!
Anyone care to post a link to suggested listening?

Ok, apologies for a bit of self promotion............Here is a photo essay of pics I took of wooden boats around the bay with a few shots of my boys surfing. The tune is an instrumental from my 2nd album that I hope to release later this year if all goes well.

Thanks Gultz. Nice wave, laid back sound. Bit of a mixed metaphor on the tubes and wooden boats in still waters though.
I have a trip up the NSW Coast to Sydney for the I14 Nationals, return trip will be carrying windsurfing gear and boards. Then across to Tasmania and back via the Bass Strait Islands for some sea cliff rock climbing. In the Tasmania return leg will be in convoy with a wooden H28.
Might need a sound track for the trip!

I did post the one you requested Frant along with a few other artist's rendition of the same song.

Re:- Canned Heat, Going Down the Country, it is actually Goin' UP the Country and is the theme song to the Woodstock movie. I wasn't there but I went to see the movie as soon as it came out.

The first song of the movie was by Richie Havens, "Freedom" which is a thing we all seek.

It is a historic concert which defined a generation. All of the artists who performed gave their best but those of particular note at this concert are Joe Cocker. Santana, Sly and the Family Stone, Country Joe and the Fish, Ten Years After and of course the amazing performance of Jimi Hendrix.

Unfortunately I am unable to find the link to the whole movie but this link starts with Richie Havens and goes into other performances. Enjoy.

Thanks Cisco, Sunday morning necessity to listen to good sound AND video simultaneously has led to me using all of the electronic/computer gadgetry on board.
I have a 12 volt mini AT computer running a 50cm screen. This is hooked into the boat sound system for blasting through speakers mounted in the saloon or external cockpit controlled by fade and balance.
The monitor was supplied with an 18 volt DC power supply and I initially ran it via an 12volt to 15-24 volt DC step up power reg.brought along as a laptop charger. Disovered by accident that when the screen was connected to the computer via the AV cable it would operate with a 12 volt input, but when connected via the old VGA cable needed 18 volts, so the screen is a 12volt monitor (ACER) bought in the states for under $100.
I use a mobile broadband dongle on TELSTRA prepaid plan which has an external antennae jack hooked into a 9dBA Ariel mounted on the aft pulpit and is used coastal offshore.
I more recently purchased an iPad air with a life proof case. This is networked to both the Nav station computer and laptop via Splashtop which enables the ipad to be used as a terminal for either computer.
I have all of the Ockam Instrument feeds hooked into the computer via an RS232 port and sent to the plotter displays using NMEA protocol. The computer also has an independent GPS Input and accepts the AIS signals displayed as a dedicated AIS screen or can be superimposed over the navigation screens.
With the iPad can see everything and control the Nav computer remotely with Splashtop. If in WiFi range it uses WiFi. Alternatively if both Splashtop devices are on internet can do everything via internet connection.
What Ciscos post has done is caused me to blast the video soundtrack over the boat sound system while watching the video on ipad from the comfort of my bunk. Then going to download some Santana for Sundays religious experience.

Thanks CanAussie. Was listening to The Divinyls tonight. I miss Chrissie RIP.
Can't seem to plug the jack into my ipad with a lite proof cover. Any ideas if there is a unique Apple connector? Would like to play the posted soundtracks with a bit of volume.

The delights of electronic devices. Took my ipad and case into the apple store to enquire about the jack. Guy asked me if I had checked the OD of my existing plug. Duh!!!! The outer cover was a fraction larger than the ID of the case hole. New "slimline" jack and all sorted. Rodriguez listening tonight. Have you seen the doco Sugar Man.
Also on electronics my original engine hour liquid crystal display wasn't displaying when I purchased boat so I fitted an engine hour meter and estimated hrs to then (500). That new meter stalled on weekend at 695.9 hrs. Pulled it out today and magically, probably as a result of how cold it is in reality, the original engine hour display is now showing at 1338.3 original engine hours. The brokers estimate of 500 engine hours was pretty close. (642.4). Wonder if the display will show when temp rises?

Here is a bit of Oz blues for your listening plesure. I have the pleasure of mixing chain for some of their Melbourne shows. I did this live recording a few years ago at Ruby's bar in Belgrave and mixed it on my recently restored vintage console.

Thanks Guitz. Sounds a bit like yesteryears Owen Yateman and Big Fat Brarse. Did you know of them? I love the old pub rock. Saw AC DC at the Eureka in Geelong, also the Angels.
Was at the YC one Friday night a while ago and there was a wedding in the West Lounge witha cover band playing. Was sitting chatting to one of the board members very conservative? But stunning wives when the band broke out in an Angels number. At the very opportune moment this delightfull woman burst out with "No way get f@cked" and went on to describe her misspent youth in Frankston.
Amazing leveller music is.
My 17 year old son is a music historian. Has gathered all my old vinyl from his older brother and has an encyclopedic knowledge of music. I just have to get hold of his iPod.

Most of the bands I record don't put their songs on youtube. This is a band I recorded live through the vintage console at a local venue. The band is Brad Martin Project
and this is a jam they made up on the spot as a tune to sort out the mix as there was no time for sound check. It's all old school with only 3 mics on the drums, Led Zep style.

Cisco you have to post some music mate or lose your guru status. And I suspect that Can Aussie is about to put in a bid as well. And Guitz there is no way you can rest on your laurels just yet.

Yeah, righto!! Been doing stuff to my yacht and a mate loaned me the complete "Boardwalk Empire" dvd set so I have been busy digesting that too.

For me "Chain" are the greatest all time Aussie Blues/Rock band.

Another band to watch closely is "Ghost Road" who live and play in the Newcastle area. In this clip see if you can spot Matt Taylor.

Still love Dave Warner from way back.

Mug's game needs to be played LOUD.

Claudio Montouri is good too.

This is some sweet music too.

One of the first CD's I recorded in the early 90's was by a band from Eden that where on tuna boats in the 70's. The had a band called The Killers of Eden
and had never recorded their original songs. I met one of the main songwriters at a wedding as my ex Bro in law was also a tuna fisherman.....wild lot they where!
Anyway I got them into the studio and had a fantastic time doing their album and made some lifelong friends in the process. Sadly two have passed on in recent years.
Songs full of references to local landmarks, history and the lives of the water men of Eden.
