Why do you have to get the hull inspected unless it a survey for insurance purpose???

Yeah it was missing the hin, looked like it had been removed for painting by previous guy.

Well took the trailer in today and failed on a few small things, all done now though and has been weighed.

So now the boat is out the front ready to go.

Trailer gets inspected again this morning, fingers crossed it passes.

Did everything on the list, so if they try to add more ill be standing my ground for sure!!

then 1pm today is the hull inspection.


Planning on having the true maiden voyage not this weekend but next and making it a family and fiends get together at a park (hopefully the weather will be nice :)

Looks better than new..... best Witch I have seen ever! The guy that was sailing one at Ocean Reef Sailing use to do very well on handicap, the witch likes strong wind and hanle the surf very nicely.
He had a pin on thewinch rope that he could remove with a long rope to let her go from the trailer without having to " swimm" was very efficient.
Another guy used to remove the pin before going down the ramp, once he applied the brake to hard on the way down and the boat felt of the trailer..... was a write of

So after measuring for a boat cover I have found I bought a red jacket, not a red witch, slightly smaller and slower, but I didn't buy it to break and speed records. Sorted out my rigging, was missing a few ropes, pulleys and washed my sails in the bath with some napisand (made little difference), was gifted a small seized outboard which I rebuilt last weekend, so this weekend will be my maiden voyage, going down the road to safety bay, boat ramp isn't too steep but it's not boating without getting a little wet. Exciting times!

I know the one, I'm going the otherside in safety bay at the Bent St boat ramp, only 500m from home and safety bay is big, wide and deep so plenty of area to practice without having to worry about reefs, and the wind direction will be onshore so if I get into too much trouble i can paddle back in, taking the SUP as an emergency life raft, get the jet ski then tow the little yacht back to the boat ramp. Little nervous of my sails ripping to shreds and engine seizing, then me being marooned on penguin island like a Tom Hank's castaway. I got your message, I'll txt you my number in the morning, if you do get into any trouble give me a call and I'll get the ski and give you a tow in.

Sounds Good Jake, not sure if i can use the Brent st Ramp, damn fixed keel :)

I also have a fixed keel, just going to reverse it in and see how deep it is, if it doesn't look like I have a chance of floating it off I'll admit defeat and truck over to point peron, its a concrete ramp and I've seen some decent size boats get launched from there before so I'm mildly optimistic that she will float away, otherwise I may have to reverse back far enough to give the snorkel a good test hahaha not that much of a cowboy. I have seen a jeep pull out of the ramp there then open up doors to let the water out, not due to the boat ramp not being steep enough but because he was an idiot. Alternatively on the otherside of the bay is the Port Kennedy boat ramp, that would definitely be steep enough to get the little boat afloat and still put me safely in Safety Bay.

Watch your mast on those overhanging branches at Peron
Best to rig up in the ramp lane, there is still room, people can still launch whilst your rigging up.
Sometimes that ramp is a little sanded, if it looks too shallow, Woodman point is always good and deep.

Well we gave it a red hot crack but didn't get too far, the wind dropped off pretty quick.

Felt good, lovely and stable, tracked straight.
The large foil rudder was supper responsive.

I do need to modify the outboard bracket so it sits lower and angled back from the boat. Prop was just below the surface.
